in the center you do this by lowering the leg on the bubble - can
aim the bubble at another leg if needed. Check if laser still on nail.
You will need to repeat 2 or 3 times.
Sensitive vial. Rotate Totalstation till vial level over 2 screws.
Using thumbs in or out as a pair the bubble will follow your left

off nail. This time loosen Totalstation mounting screw and slide
head till over nail. Then check levels one more time.
Turn on Totalstation. May need to break horizontal and vertical
circles before can start reading so spin 360 deg and rotate

by blue buttons. To select one push Esc till get Model screen and then
again once. Then push desired display mode with blue buttons.
If want to read correct RLs then:
1.
Navigate to NEZ mode by pressing Blue COORD button
2.
On page P2 press F1 to enter HT mode
3.
Set both R.HT & INS.HT to 0
4.
On page P1 press F2(MEAS) and shoot a point with known RL and
note the vertical displacement
5.
On page P2 press F1 to enter HT mode again. Enter measured
vertical displacement into the instrument height field (INS.HT) as a
negative number Note the RL increases by 1m if INS.HT value is
+1m or R.HT is -1m
6.
On page P1 press F1(MEAS) to shoot several points to check Z
value appears correct
If just want to get vertical distance differentials and manually record
then use blue Distance button and read VD. If want to check an angle
then push blue Angle button, point to target, F3 to zero horizontal
angle, and point to next point, and read angle.

ACCURACY CHECKS
Altitude: Setup 20m from wall in face left (battery pack on RHS)
Aim instrument at wall and clamp horizontal axis. Adjust vertically
to get reading of 90 deg. Place mark on wall at horizontal crosshair.
Rotate to face right and rotate vertically to 270 deg. Place another
mark on wall. Measure mark separation. <10mm acceptable
2.
Azimuth: Set instrument half way between building and nail in
peg. Sight to nail in face left. Zero set instrument azimuth. Rotate
horizontally 180 degrees to wall and mark on wall. Sight to nail in
face right. Zero set azimuth. Rotate 180 deg. back to wall and mark
wall. Measure mark separation. <10mm acceptable
Most Totalstation have an accuracy of +-2mm with prism and +-5mm
with laser over short distances to say 400m
Used to set out layout points or offset points from stored or keyed data
An outline of steps follows:
1 Select layout file. You can call up the occupied point coordinate
data, backsight coordinate data, and layout point data.
2
Set occupied point.
3 Set backsight point and azimuth angle.
4 Layout point coordinates.

Moves data from internal file on total station to/from txt file on SD
card. All dimensions must be in meters. Point description can be 10
digits. Preferred format is: P, E, N, Z, D where P = point number,
E = Easting, N = Northing and D = description
NOTE NTS 360 format files have X Y Z in front of data and this ios harder
to work with in excel
