Learning Activity

The activity for this module is simple. Reflect on your learning through the
semester; provide reflective response to a two-part question:
What are the major learnings you have taken away from this course? Please list at
least 3 things.
How are you planning to apply these major learnings in practice?
Youre Assignment:
Post your reflective response to the above two questions (min. 100 words) in the
Discussion Board, under the Module 4 Assignments.
Your posting is due by Friday midnight of Module 4. Your response to at least one
other posting is due by Sunday midnight of Module 4.

There are so many things that I have learned in this class but here are only a few
points.
1.)Be Accurate!
Swanson says, Being accurate and complete is critical. Without directly
observing the work as it is taking place, the analyst is likely to leave
several important steps or pieces of information out of the analysis (p.
165). It is so important to gather as much information during a task
analysis as possible because, we as HRD professionals will have to record
the precise details of a work task. When I am tasked with conducting a
Task Analysis, I will make sure to take the time to understand as much as I
can.
2.)Can- Cant/ Will- Wont Performance Analysis Method
a. In Chapter 2, Barbazettes explains in detail, the Can- Cant/ Will- Wont
Method. This is important because this method is used, to identify
whether the employees deficient performance is causes by lack of
skill, an unwilling attitude, lack of appropriate resources, not enough
time, or other issues hindering completion of the task. I learned a lot
from his method because Ive never understood how HRD professionals
come to conclusions on how best to support a groups needs. In the
future, I will use this informal method during my profession.
3.)Ask a lot of question! ( Dont be shy)
Barbazette states in the introduction to his book, Although the main
target audience is the intermediate trainer, new trainers with some
assessment experience can benefit from the tools provides here (p.1)
This observation is what I feel like Ive learned the most out of
everything. Its a personal observation but Ive learned a lot about

myself in the last month. As a new HRD professional, I will ask many
questions.
