REFLECTION DAY 7

My Personal Objective for day 7:

To learn as much as I can from today's seminar so as to improve my practice

On July 12, 2016, Mrs. Jacas engaged us in a discussion in relations to the seminar and clarified the
misconceptions that some teachers had about the lack of adequate notice about the 7 days of seminar. We
were also informed that we are required to submit an e-portfolio. Many teachers were not really aware of
how to create an e-portfolio; however, I already knew based on courses done in college. As a result of
this, we were relocated to the lab for assistance in how to create an e-portfolio. We also watched
YouTube videos to observe the effectiveness of technology in the 21rst century.
We were also informed that the school that did the pilot of this curriculum was Campion College and
two representatives from Campion College discussed how they got the students involved and engaged
in their lessons. Some teachers were not in agreement with the pilot being done at Campion College
because the students at Campion perform at a different level from most other students in Jamaica.
Nonetheless, based on my knowledge gained from the seminar, I believe that the NSC is applicable to
other schools in Jamaica, despite the pilot being done at Campion.
Not much was done today because the presenters scheduled for the day did not show up.
Overall, the seminar was very beneficial and I am happy that I went, despite the fact that I had a lot of
prior obligations.
