Lesson Title: Everyone has a body

but what is its function
Grade Level:7th
Subject: Science
Description of Learning Goals, Standards, Objectives
CC/GPSs:
S7L2. Students will describe the structure and
function of cells, tissues,
organs, and organ systems.
a. Explain that cells take in nutrients in order to grow
and divide
and to make needed materials.
b. Relate cell structures (cell membrane, nucleus,
cytoplasm,
chloroplasts, and mitochondria) to basic cell
functions.
c. Explain that cells are organized into tissues, tissues
into
organs, organs into systems, and systems into
organisms.
d. Explain that tissues, organs, and organ systems
serve the needs
cells have for oxygen, food, and waste removal.
e. Explain the purpose of the major organ systems in
the human
body (i.e., digestion, respiration, reproduction,
circulation,
excretion, movement, control, and coordination, and
for
protection from disease).
National Technology Standards:
A. 3. Research and Information Fluency
d. process data and report results.
B. 1. Creativity and Innovation
c. use models and simulations to explore complex
systems and issues.
C. 3. Research and Information Fluency
b. locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and
ethically use
information from a variety of sources and media.
c. evaluate and select information sources and digital
tools based on the
appropriateness to specific tasks.
D. 2. Communication and Collaboration
a. interact, collaborate, and publish with peers,
experts, or others
employing a variety of digital environments and

media.
b. communicate information and ideas effectively to
multiple audiences
using a variety of media and formats.
E. 4. Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and
Decision Making
a. identify and define authentic problems and
significant questions for
investigation.
b. plan and manage activities to develop a solution or
complete a project.
5. Digital Citizenship
b. exhibit a positive attitude toward using technology
that supports
collaboration, learning, and productivity.
2. Communication and Collaboration
d. contribute to project teams to produce original
works or solve problems.
Long-Term Learning Goal or
Students will describe the structure and function of
Outcome:
cells, tissues, organs, and
organ systems.
ABCD Objectives or Outcomes:
Using Pinterest, students will complete the Treasure
Hunt then
and act out an assigned skit that explains the purpose
of the
major organ systems in the human body. A teacher
generated grading rubric with 80 % accuracy will be
used
Description of Assessment
Assessment Plan:
Students will be given a variety of assessments
ranging from informal,
formative, diagnostic, and summative assessments to
determine their
knowledge, and their application of the information
that has been taught
to them. A variety of graphic organizers along with an
array of
instructional strategies will be utilized to engage
students and determine
prior knowledge. Hands-on-activities along with
student-centered
assignments will require students to not only show
comprehension of
the selected content but also apply their newly
acquired knowledge
Description of Activities with Technology and Materials
Activity Design:
.) advance organizer

Class starter and lesson

connection:

Teacher and student activities:

2.) Collaborative project (oral presentation)

3.) graphic organizers
4.) video clip
5.) PowerPoints
6.) planner to track assignments/tests and contain
weekly grade report to parents that students need to
bring back signed
Begin class with a bell ringer, work sheet, ask
informative questions, or play a remember game.
Before every lesson I will have a brief review of the
past lesson to connect some dots and link some
missing chains.
My students will have about five minutes of
collaborative discussions and they will pick a leader
and tell me what they got from the lesson. I will
praise and give each group constructively critical
advice.

some examples of different things about the body
student/group self-evaluation forms for oral reports
and dioramas, student copies of teacher rubrics for
oral reports and journals

Future Actions :

Reflection on Lesson Design

Explain how you incorporated information from
the chapter and D2L modules into this lesson
plan.

Technology will be used to guide the

students into understanding the science
materials presented.
After considering this lesson plan, what will you
do differently when you design the next lesson in
light of your new understanding?

Time consideration will be considered

before preparing the technological
learning source.
How does your technology artifact showcase
design principle?

Each technology artifact touches all eight

web design principles to some extent.
How does your technology artifact require
student use of higher order thinking skills?

Each technology artifact demonstrates

many of the characteristics that it takes
to be considered higher order thinking.
How does the technology in your lesson align to
the content you are trying to teach in your
lesson?

Each technology artifact helps guide the

teacher in teaching the lesson and is the
basis of the students learning.
