Montage Project #1
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: May 28, 2016
Programs Used
Adobe Photoshop
Description
A montage of images blended together.
Objectives
Demonstrate the ability to blend layers in Photoshop.
Process
I used different blending modes to create the white/light grunge texture over the
design, as well as a layer mask to fade out parts of the texture. For the ash cloud
texture, I used the burn tool to make the light spots darker, and a layer mask to
let the subject stand out from the clouds. The text was very simple to design. I
used the eyedropper to find colors in the images, and match the text with them.
Finally, I added drop shadows on all the text to make it more legible.

Brochure Project
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: July 9, 2016
Programs Used
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Description
Create a brochure using all of the Adobe progams covered in the course
Objectives
Use edited images, an original logo, and create a spread
Process
I used Adobe Illustrator to create a new logo, which is found on the back
page. I used the pen tool, the gradient tool, the type on a path tool, and object
grouping skills to put this together. For my images, I used the quick selection
tool to take the ocarinas away from their original backgrounds, and I used layer
masks to edit the sky background and the guy on the front of the pamphlet.
With InDesign, I used ruler guides to help me make the layout. I justified the
text in the text boxes, and I used the text wrap window to make the text follow
the shape of the ocarinas.

Business Card
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: June 11, 2016
Programs Used
Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
Description
Create an original logo for a business card
Objectives
Create a simple business card
Process
To create the business card I used Adobe Illustrator to create an original design for
a company. I used the pen and curve tools to make the banana. I also added some
small color splotches on the banana using the ellipse and shape builder tools.

Letterhead Project
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: June 11, 2016
Programs Used
Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
Description
Simple sationary with orginal logo and watermark
Objectives
Use the interactability of Adobe programs
Process
The logo is the same logo I designed on my business card project. I copyed that
logo to the letterhead, enlarged the vector, rotated it slightly, and reduced the
opacity to create the water mark. For the banner I simly used a stroke option in
Indesign to create the squares.

Webpage Project
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: June 25, 2016
Programs Used
Notepad++
Description
A webpage created by manipulating CSS. and HTML.
Objectives
Combine CSS. and HTML. to form a pleasing webpage layout
Process
I did a lot of simple edits to the CSS., such as changing the fonts to match the
logo. I used hex codes to get the colors for the header and the typography. I also
inserted a link to set the background as the banana bread picture. Another fun
thing I did was set the background opacity in order to show off the background
image just enough to unify the design.

Photodesign Project
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: May 21, 2016
Programs Used
Adobe Photoshop
Description
An edited picture in Photoshop with a complete color scheme
Objectives
Sample colors from an original image and use color swatches in the design
Process
For the image, I used hue and saturation layers to edit the color levels. The original
image had light at the bottom, so I used the spot healing tool to cover them
up. Once the colors were richer, I used the eyedropper tool to create my color
swatches and ovals. I also edited the colors richness by adjusting the black and
white levels.

Montage Project #2
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: July 16, 2016
Programs Used
Adobe Photoshop
Description
A montage of images blended together.
Objectives
Demonstrate the ability to blend layers in Photoshop.
Process
For this project I used Photoshop to create a new montage. I used the
selection tool and layer masks to fade out the different images. I also used a
blending mode to blend the texture onto the forest image. I also used a
saturation adjustment to make the forest less colorful.

Event Ad Project
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: May 14, 2016
Programs Used
Microsoft Word
Description
A flier for a fictional event
Objectives
Use a scanned image and Microsoft Word to create an appealing flier
Process
I created all the diagonal squares with the rectangle tool. I then rotated them
to create the odd angles. A lot of this project revolved around the principles of
asymmetry and rhythm. I used the odd angles and color scheme to appeal to
the kind of people who might go to Rexburg Motor Sports. The badger image I
scanned, and cropped out the background of the image using Word.

Flier Project
Instructor: Lindsey LeFevre
Course: Communications 130, Section 7
Date: May 7, 2016
Programs Used
Adobe InDesign
Description
A flier created with specific design requirments
Objectives
Work with provided images and body copy to create a flier
Process
I began by sketching four possible designs and layouts that might attract the
attention of college graduates. I used Adobe InDesign to organize the material
given for the flier. I organized the white space into a shape that somewhat
mirrored the triangular picture at the top of the page. I used the fonts, and the title
background to create some contrast that would attract the audiences attention.

Design a simple, memorable logo
Process
For this project I sketched out several ideas for logos and created my three

touch type tool, and a few others to create the three different logos.
