Add a 2-paragraph reflection to explain the advantages and disadvantages of that ICT activity to assess that
language skill/system and how it relates-or not- to the Chilean classroom context.
We believed that these types of activities help students to improve their skills efficiently and that is easier to catch their
attention because there is something that they are not used to do in a common English class. In this task we mainly evaluate
pragmatics, but in a way that is completely different to the methodologies used to evaluate it in most of Chilean classroom. In
addition, most of Chilean schools have the resources used in this lesson, so it is not difficult to do this activity. We as
teachers need to be aware about the importance of the activities that we make in classes, ICTs are an innovative way to
motivate students to improve their performance in class.
If we talk about the advantages of this ICT activity to asses pragmatics it is possible to state that it is a different activity which
involves technological devices, Students are digital natives, so this activities allows us to work with students by using their
context. In addition, students can look for information in internet, which is much easier than using books. On the other hand,
students may get distracted, because there are too much interesting things to watch or read in internet, or they may use
information from pages that are not truthful.
