Depth of flat slab 300mm is insufficient from basic calculations:

The thickness of the flat slab up to spans of 10 m shall be

generally controlled by considerations of span
( L ) to effective depth ( d ) ratios given as below:
Cantilever 7; simply supported 20; Continuous 26
Considering the flat slab as a continuous slab over a span not exceeding 10 m
L/d = 26, d = L/26
Assuming Modification factor of 1.3
Depth considering along:
Longer span
L = 106 m ,
d = 10000/(26x1.3)
= 296 mm

Shorter span
L = 7.0 m
d = 7000/(26x1.3)
= 207

Here Longer span governs the depth

Taking effective cover of 30mm
Overall depth D = 295 +30 = 325 mm
Plz Check with Total deflection including the effects of creep and deflection
as follows
The total deflection shall not exceed span/250.
From STAAD Model,
The Nodal Displacements for 1.0DL + 1.0LL case shall be
taken.
And the net deflection shall be calculated as
Net Deflection = Midspan Nodan displacement - 0.5x(Left Support/Edge Node
Displacement + Right Support/Edge Node Displacement)
From this net deflection calculate the short term deflection as per ANNEX c,
IS 456:2000
Add to above short-term deflection, the deflection due to shrinkage and creep
which gives the Total Deflection
The total deflection shall not exceed span/250.
Note, for your case long span will govern the design.

Dear sir,

Post subject: deflection calculation

Thank you for your immediate reply.

i've a doubts regarding calculation of short term deflection.
1).whatever the displacement shown in staad is it not short term deflction of
uncracked
section?
2). how can we utilise the net deflection obtained by staad(as you replied
earlier) in calculating short term deflection as per IS456 annex C?
So kindly help me out in this?

Post subject: MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE
DEFLECTION FOR FLAT SLAB

1. Deflections are always to be calculated under service loads.
2. In computing the responses of shear wall buildings, adoption of 'plate
elements' give erroneous results. For such buildings, 'surface elements'
should be used.
3. Apart from short term deflections, there will be long term deflections due
to creep & shrinkage. I'm not sure STAAD accounts for these.
4. For slabs, max. permissible deflection under all loads is Lx/350; for all
loads excluding LL, it is Lx/250. Note that max. permissible deflections
include long term effects.

We have to take midspan moment for continuous and simply supported slab,
But for Cantilever, we need to take the support moments.
The final deflection shall not exceed span/250 that is the only criteria for the final deflection check.
