Solid Landings helped save my life, said Madeleine Schnier. Only 3 years ago Maddie was a client here at Solid Landings. A hard worker in the trenches, she started as a client, became part of the Support Staff, a Shift Leader, and is now a Program Manager at Boston, Charleston 1, Charleston 2 and Orange houses. Overseeing clients at the Boston and Charleston 1detox homes, she faces the difficulties of dealing with clients in high-risk conditions. Maddie oversees the support staff, confers with the clinical staff, arranges logistics drives, orders supplies and is invested in the recovery of 32 women at these houses. Maddie hails from North Andover, Massachusetts, she was restless, bright but discontent with her life. A perfectionist, she felt misunderstood and found weed and alcohol to be part of her everyday high school life. She went on to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she did every drug available and found smoking opiates and heroin to be her drugs of choice. In 2012, at the end of her sophomore year, she dropped out of college and was kicked out of her home, refusing help she was homeless from 2012-2013. In an incident while driving across the country she and her friend were pulled over and she was arrested for possession of weed. Upon her return home she was put in a psych ward and was trying to get high on the sleeping meds of other patients. The behavior led to her being kicked out of the psych ward. She overdosed on her Mothers birthday and woke up in a hospital and had grand mal seizures and her organs were shutting down. After her release she stayed at her Aunts while attending an Intensive Outpatient Program and was miserable being sober. After lying, stealing, and slamming heroin everyday she was beaten down. One year to the exact day of her overdose, she entered a rehab in July of 2013 she was ready to learn to live. Her mother sent her to treatment at a preferred partner of Solid Landings in California. One year to the exact day of her overdose, she entered a rehab in July of 2013 she was ready to learn to live. Monica Green picked her up at Corporate and she stayed here as a client from Sept Nov. 2013. After 8 months sober, she was hired and found the 12 step program to be her finding grace. Solid Landings introduced her to a better way of life. Maddie says, she got to know women who were sober and saw that it was possible for her Working the 12 steps is what keeps her going on a daily basis. Hopelessness breeds willingness, I was lucky enough to be hopeless enough, that I was willing to take the directions given to me while here at Solid Landings. says Maddie.
