Institute of Information and Computing Sciences University of Santo Tomas Espaa Blvd., Sampaloc, Manila, 1008
Dear Asst. Prof. Santos
Greetings! I am writing this letter to persuade you to allow me to shift to Computer Science. To be blunt, I have a failing mark, albeit labeled 5.0/INC and albeit being a subject only CFAD has, it is still a failing mark. However, I assure you that it does not mirror my work ethics or my ability to cope up with the workload your Institute would give. I am from College of Fine Arts and Design. I was doing fine at first until I found myself not enjoying it anymore. I have lost interest, simply because I took it on a whim, I was just not thinking about it and deep inside, I wanted to take Computer Science or Information Technology. But it boiled down to Computer Science because I am an artist too, I have a free-flowing broad mind, and I think that if I want to make significant discoveries, it is a good idea to take a more comprehensive program. Information Technology is not broad enough; it is more of a specific program of learning how to deal with integrating technology to information dissemination. Computer Science is the way to go. Truthfully, I am writing this letter to express my desperation at this moment. I do not want to take what I do not want anymore. I will be happier with Computer Science because it is my childhood dream that is slowly resurfacing right now. But this desperation gave light to my former self. I was a bit of a computer geek back in High School. I was hailed as the most proficient in computer simply because I had an extensive knowledge about computers, even surpassing most upperclassmen. My reputation grew, enabled me to get recruited to participate in an IT Wizard Quiz Bee even though my school has a stringent requirement of being a senior to participate in such events. After two years of being in CFAD, I have lost most of the knowledge I had. However, I still have the fascination about computers. I am determined to pursue my dream of being a Computer Scientist, the first one to put 2 on binary digits. Maybe what I am dreaming now is too farfetched, but I got to start somewhere. After all, everything that revolutionized the way we are living now was once a crazy idea in someones head. I am very open to interviews if deemed necessary. Hoping for good news!
