Women Entrepreneurs in India

Its said that two wheels are necessary to carry a carriage forward. If one wheel is
weak, it can not drag the cart any further. This has been the case in Indian society
for long. Women have been considered as the weaker section. Women in India are
being forced to live in a very small world. For them the world is limited to their
family. They were not allowed to get involved in whats happening outside. These
customs were dwelled to such extent in every Indian society that even womens
have started thinking that they do not have any right to dwell in outside world. But
now, the situation is changing. More and more women are now coming out in the
daylight and many of them are doing things in a better way than their male
counterparts.
Entrepreneurship for long has been considered as the field of men. Many still
believe that womens should stay away from businesses. But as I said, situation is
changing. Today we can see a whole plethora of women entrepreneurs in the indian
society. Indira Nooyi is one such lady. Aged 56, she is the CFO and Chairman of
PepsiCo. She has also been conferred for her stellar business achievements. Naina
Lal Kidwai, is another such person. She is the General Manager of HSBC, India.
Other notables are Kiran Mazumdar Shaw(Biocon), Chanda Kochar(MD-ICICI). These
women have not only established themselves as leading entrepreneurs but also as
an idol for not only women but also men of the country.
Recently a survey, conducted by BNP Paribas, has claimed that nearly 49% of
entrepreneuurs in India are women. This clearly strengthen the fact that women are
not behind mens in any field and if given the opportunity they can excel in any
field. The main cause of this transmission is that the standards of education has
been rising in the country and more and more focus is being given on the girl
education. This increased focus on Girl Education has started to reap dividends now.
This is not the end of the road, this is only the beginning. Once the impact of
education reached the far flung areas of India, we will see a much more rise in
Women entrepreneurships in India. This will be very much the balanced condition
for Indian development. Women working hand on hand with men will be the ideal
scenario to take India to the ultimate height of development.
