A GOOD ATTITUDE. Be willing to try new things, ask questions, and even get things
wrong from time to time because that is how you will learn. I am always willing to
help any student who needs it.
E-Mail and Websites: The easiest way for any parent or student to reach me is through
e-mail. richardmiller@cgsnc.org I check my e-mail several times a day and will usually
respond within 24 hours (except on weekends). Another source of information will be the
class website. I will be posting copies of the class notes, assignments, texts, etc. It is still
the students responsibility to pay attention in class to get the notes, assignments, etc. If
an item is discussed in class but does not happen to be posted online, the student is still
responsible. The class website can be accessed through the CGS website: Look under
High School Faculty and click the webpage link beside my name. We will also use the
Schoology website to deliver some notes, assignments, and quizzes.

Honors Math II
Tutoring is available after school most days (not Tuesday). Do not wait to get help.
Homework assignments will often be online. This will include watching videos,
answering practice questions and taking home quizzes. I need to know if a
student does not have access to the internet at home.
Tests/Quizzes: Throughout each unit there will be quizzes. Then at the end of each unit
there will be a test. NOTE: Tests will only take one day in class. If a student will require
more time to complete a test, this must be done outside the normal class time, for
example after school during tutoring. Students may retake tests on which they
receive a low grade for partial grade recovery. This must also be done outside of
normal class time. If other arrangements need to be made we can discuss those on an
individual basis.
Absences: Students are responsible for missed work and/or notes from any days they
are absent. Students may get the notes/assignments from a trustworthy classmate or
the class website or they can see me after school or at the end of class. Class should not
be interrupted to discuss missing work. Students have 3 days per absence to make up
any late work. After that the assignments will be counted late.
Tardy Policy: (from the Student Handbook) A tardy to class is defined as not being in
the assigned seat and prepared to receive instruction BEFORE the bell rings. The only
way to excuse a tardy to class is for a student to have a note (with the student name,
date and time) signed by a staff member. Otherwise the tardy is recorded as unexcused.
Consequences: 1st Tardy 15 minute lunch detention; 2nd Tardy Full lunch detention;
3rd Tardy Administrative referral and contact parent/guardian
NOTE: This syllabus is not all inclusive. As the teacher, I reserve the right to modify the
rules and expectations as the situation requires.
Note to Parents/Guardians:
A students parents can make a huge difference in the success of that student. Please
feel free to contact me if there are any questions. The easiest way to reach me is by
email at richardmiller@cgsnc.org.
Both the parents/guardians and students should read this document. Please take the
time to discuss with your student. Then please answer the following questions and return
the form to Mr. Miller. This is so that I know you and your student understand this course
and my expectations for the class. Failure to return this form signed by the end of this
week will result in the student receiving a zero for this homework assignment.
