: Calibrating a Trip Distribution Gravity Model Stratified by the Trip

Purpose for the City of Alexandria

Writers name

: Mounir Mahmoud Moghazy Abdel-Aal

Source

: Alexandria Engineering Journal (2014) 53, 677-689 available online at

sciencedirect.com

The purpose

: The purpose of this research is to develop and calibrate a doublyconstrained trip distribution model for the city of Alexandria, Egypt.

Parameters

: Origin (Oi), Destination (Dj), Travel Purpose (p), Time of travel (t)

Methods

: Doubly-constrained Gravity Model

Conclusion

: The most important findings of this paper are the dispersion parameters
and average trip lengths for different purposes. The overall average trip
lengths proves to be proportional to the small size of a dense city such
as Alexandria. Another finding is the valuation of the attracted trip and
attraction ratio relative to the mandatory trips which are very essential to
trip attraction model.

: Using a Double-Constrained Gravity Model to Derive Regional Purchase

Coefficints

Writers name

: Greg Alward, Doug Olson and Scott Lindall

Source

: Procedia-Social and Behavioral Science 96 (2013) 2274-2286 available

online at sciencedirect.com

The purpose

: This paper describes a gravity model to estimate gross trade flows

between states.

Parameters

: Commodity Supply, Commodity Demand, Distance Function

Methods

: Doubly-constrained Gravity Model

Conclusion

: Information we could use the data from Commodity Flow Survey (CFS)
to determine how much of local supply was used to meet local demand
for each state. The ratio of local demand met by local supply is called
the Regional Purchase Coefficient (RPC).

: Advanced Trip Generation/ Attraction Models

Writers name

: Alexandre A. Amavi, Juan P. Romero, Alberto Dominguez, Luigi dell'

Olio, Agel Ibeas

Source

: Procedia-Social and Behavioral Science 160 (2014) 430 - 439 available

online at sciencedirect.com

The purpose

: In order to obtain advanced generation/attraction models in Santander

metropolitan area (in Spain) based on model proposed.

Parameters

: Origin (Oi), Destination (Dj), Land-use, Sosio economic characteristics

Methods

: Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and calibration of spatial data using

Software GeoDa

Conclusion

: Several applied studies using advanced trip generation/attraction models

have been analyzed, these studies describe two main types of
methodology: 1) To compile background and baseline information and
2) To use this information in the best possible way through MLR models
from zonal data.

: Alternative Gravity Modelling Approaches for Trip Matrix Synthesis

Writers name

: Olga Feldman, Jose Forero-Martinez, Denvil Coombe

Source

: Association for European Transport and Contributors 2012

The purpose

: This paper is concerned with use of a gravity model for the synthesis of
base year trip matrices which are subsequently subject to various
adjusments to match counts in order to achieve a satisfactorily validated
highway assignment models.

Parameters

: Cost, Distance, Time Travel, Tanner Function, Exponential Function,

Power Function, Density Function of a Log Distribution

Methods

: Gravity Model

Conclusion

: The research propose to use a deterrence function based on a log-normal

distribution with observed movements applied in a 3D Furness process,
which allows controling the synthetic matrices to the partial trip matrices
at the sectoral level.

Angkutan Pribadi-Umum

Writers name

: Chairur Roziqin

Source

: Jurnal Teknik Sipil Volume 12, No. 1 Oktober 2012, hal 28-34

The purpose

: Mengestimasi matrik asal tujuan (MAT) dengan memanfaatkan datadata sekunder seperti data sosio ekonomi, lintas harian rata-rata (LHR),
waktu perjalanan (travel time), jaringan jalan dan kecepatan.

Parameters

: Hambatan (Cid), Asal tempat (Oid), Tujuan (Dd), dan

Methods

: Model kombinasi sebaran pergerakan yaitu Gravity dan pemilihan moda

Multinomiallogit dalam kondisi pembebanan rute keseimbangan (model
SPPM)

Conclusion

lokal optimum.
