1. Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus)

The fresh herb of Lemongrass contains small amounts of antioxidant vitamins such as vitamin-C, and vitamin A. It helps to
control heart rate and blood pressure. Lemongrass, also helps in
cleansing and flushing harmful toxic wastes out of the body, as
a result of its diuretic properties.

2. Mulethi (Glycyrrhiza

glabra)

Mulethi is cold in potency, sweet in nature. It cures peptic ulcer. Good for sweetening and
soothing throat and voice. It is hepatoprotective, antidiuretic, expectorant and a good source
of antioxidant.

3. Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri)

It is found in the moist areas of India & Srilanka. The whole plant is used for medicinal
purposes. It is a reputed nervine tonic. It acts as a smooth muscle relaxant and used to treat
bronchitis and asthma. It is a good source of antioxidant and has anti-diabetic properties.

4. Kali Mirch (Piper

nigrum)

It is a perennial climbing shrub, indigenous to Malabar & Western costs of India. It is


popularly known as black pepper.
It is pungent, penetrating and hot in potency.
It has anti-asthmatic, antioxidant activity, immunomodulatory activity and analgesic
activity. It is useful for low appetite, sluggish digestion.

5. Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum)

Tulsi is a small herb found throughout India, cultivated mainly near to temples. Tender leaves
of Tulsi boiled with tea act as preventive medicament against malaria and dengue fever. It is
good in case of common cold and fever. It is primarily used in the cure of upper respiratory
tract infections & bronchitis. It has antioxidant activity and anti-diabetic properties. Also, it is
neuro-protective and cardio-protective by nature.

Elaichi Laghu (Elettaria


cardamomum)

Cardamom posseses antihypertensive property. It is antiinflammatory, analgesic & antispasmodic. It is good source of antioxidant. Cardamom is
used in promoting skin complexion, destroying itching and pustules. It is a primary
contributor to the flavour of masala chai.

7. Ajwain (Trachyspermum ammi)

Ajwain seeds are known as a digestive aid, improves appetite, and combine well with
fennel to relieve gas and bloating. It contains about 50% thymol, a well known and
antibacterial essential oil. It also helps in detoxification of various toxins.

8. Saunf (Foeniculum vulgare)

It is highly recommended for bronchitis and chronic coughs, kidney stones,


dysmenorrhea, vomiting and diarrhea. It is considered to have diuretic, stomachic and
galactogogue properties. It shows significant hepato-protective, cardioprotective and
gastro protective activity. Fennel is known as an excellent source of natural
antioxidants.

9. Shankhpushpi (Convolvulous pluricaulis)


The whole plant is one of the most important Medhya Rasayana drugs in Ayurveda
used as brain stimulator and memory enhancer. It improves the balance and vitiation
in Kapha-vata-pitta doshas. Shankhpushpi is used traditionally to treat nervous
debility, insomnia, fatigue, low energy level.
It is considered as a good medicine for hypertension. The herb is useful to treat
neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers disease.

(Mentha
viridis)

It has traditionally been used to treat a variety of digestive complaints such as colic in
infants, flatulence, diarrhoea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, morning sickness, and anorexia,
and as a spasmolytic to reduce gas and cramping.
It is known for excellent source of natural antioxidants.
It possesses essential oils with important antimicrobial, anti-infective properties.

11. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)

The plant of Ashwagandha is a small middle sized, erect, and evergreen to tomentose
shrub. The dried root of this plant is used for medicinal purpose.
It is a popular drug having multiple beneficial effects like anti-oxidant, anti-tumor and
immunomodulatory, cardio-protective activities.

In Ayurveda ashwagandha is considered a rasayana herb, shows significant anti stress,


anxiolytic, antidepressive activity.
It helps in reducing anxiety and stress, mental fatigue, induces a feeling of calm and
peace, good sleep.

12. Guduchi(Tinospora cardifolia)

It is commonly known, as Amrita or Guduchi. It is an important drug of Indian Systems of


Medicine (ISM). The drug is well known Indian bitter and prescribed in different types of
fevers, diabetes, dyspepsia, jaundice, urinary problems, skin diseases and chronic diarrhoea &
dysentery. It has been also indicated in the treatment of heart diseases, leprosy, helmenthiasis and
rheumatoid arthritis. The starch obtained from the stem known as Guduchi-satva is highly
nutritive and immunity enhancer. It is known for excellent source of natural antioxidants.

13.Green tea (Camelia sinensis)

The health-promoting effects of green tea are mainly attributed to its polyphenol content,
particularly catechin, (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). Green tea may protect against
obesity related disorders such as artherosclerosis, diabetes and hypertension due to presence of
polyphenols. Green tea has an antidiabetic effect, also acts positively on neurodegenerative
diseases such as Parkinson and Alzheimer disease.

14.Black Tea (Camelia sinensis)

Catechins are bioactive compounds of tea leaves that are responsible for cardiovascular,
chemopreventive, metabolic, neuroprotective and other health benefits. Black tea polyphenols

could act as preventive agents and could have a beneficial effect against lipid and glucose
metabolism disorders associated with Type II diabetes.
