I wrote about 30 stories, most of which were published on the homepage, for several
desks; wrote headlines; managed CNN.coms regional pages (Europe, Africa, Asia,
Americas, Middle East); researched and edited pictures; built galleries and stories in
the CMS; used analytics tools to monitor and increase traffic and engagement

The Washington Post, Investigative Intern

As part of a Fulbright grant, I worked as a graduate researcher for Pulitzer Prize-winning


journalist John Sullivan and other members of the investigative unit
Co-authored the front-page investigation Probable Cause, which looked at how police
officers in Washington, D.C. secure and execute residential search warrants
Contributed to two front-page investigations: Broken by the Bubble, part of the series
Dashed Dreams, a series looking at the plight of the black middle class, particularly in
Marylands Prince Georges County; Shaken Science A Disputed Diagnosis Imprisons
Parents, which explains how prosecutors build murder cases on disputed Shaken Baby
Syndrome diagnosis
I also published a story as a freelancer, A Pie in the Face for McDonalds, and helped
The Post in its coverage of the Vatican

Investigative Reporting Workshop, Graduate Fellow

Author of New journalism ecosystem thrives worldwide, a project to survey and study
nonprofit newsrooms around the world
Contributed to Assault on Justice, a five-month investigation that showed how often the
charge of assaulting a police officer was used in the District of Columbia, questioning its
potential for overuse particularly with minority men. For this story, my colleagues and I
researched more than 2,000 cases of assaulting a police officer charges from January 2012
through December 2014, analyzed them and built a database. Over the past year, the report
has won several national awards: an AP award for Outstanding Enterprise Reporting; the
Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize and the Murrow Award for Radio Investigative Reporting;
and was a finalist for an ONA Student Projects Pro-Am Award

Lived for six months in the U.K. to learn English
Wrote and produced stories for several Italian outlets, such as Corriere del Mezzogiorno
Worked as a communications specialist for institutions, businesses and events, such as
the Un-Habitat World Urban Forum
Voluntereer for Radio Siani (an anti-Mafia radio), as a radio author, reporter and speaker.
I generated ideas for stories; prepared and presented material on air for pre-recorded
and live pieces; identified guests and conducted both live and recorded interviews;
Attended the Multimedia Summer Camp in Latvia, whose workshops covered multimedia
