is not more than twenty percent (20%) above the motor zero slip speed.
3.7.2
3.7.3
3.7.4
As installed in the field, each pump shall not exceed vibration limits of 7.62 mm/sec.

Specification VES-6100 and the data sheet.
4.0
PERFORMANCE
4.1
Pump
4.1.1
Pumps shall be rated at actual (or predicted) driven speed for the data sheet load
conditions.
4.1.2
In general, all pumps shall have the characteristics of decreasing head with increasing
capacity from shutoff to maximum capacity. However, for pumps which have been
specified on the data sheet for parallel operation, this is mandatory requirement.
4.1.3
The slope of the pump curve is preferred to be at least 10 percent in the differential
pressure rise from rated point to minimum flow for the specified operating conditions.
Any drooping characteristics in the curve between these points shall be specifically
stated in the quotation by Vendor.
4.1.4
4.1.5
4.1.6
Changes in head capacity, at the rated flow, of plus or minus five percent (" 5%), shall
be possible by installing a new impeller for the increase, and by modifying the existing
impeller for the decrease. Maximum diameter impellers for rated flow conditions are not
acceptable.
4.1.7
The pump shall be capable of operating at 125% of rated flow without the required
NPSH exceeding the available NPSH.

4.2
Driver
Vendor shall provide an electric motor driver which satisfies all of the following performance
requirements, in addition to those specified in VES-6100.
5.0
4.2.1
Driver shall be sized so that it does not run in an overloaded condition under any
possible operational situations, such as end of curve for rated impeller, or 100% water
when an oil/water mixture is specified.
4.2.2
Driver shall not run at its maximum rating at rated product flow conditions, but may run
at its service factor for higher flows with rated impeller.
4.2.3
Driver shall be capable of starting the pumps against open discharge, and shall also be
capable of starting and accelerating to full load under a twenty percent (20%) drop in
rated supply voltage.
4.2.4
Driver shall be suitable for repeated starting and stopping (six [6] starts per hour),
standby operation (cooled down and ready for immediate start by an automatic control
signal), and for unlimited continuous operation.
ACCESSORIES
5.1
Strainers
Vendor shall provide a suction strainer for all open pit type pumps. The strainer shall be sized to
prevent passage of solids larger than the pump can safely pass.
5.2
Level Switches
Vendor shall provide a float type level switch for all open pit type pumps. The switch shall be
designed to automatically start and stop the pump at preset sump (pit) levels, as specified on the
data sheet. The switch shall be suitable for the electrical area classification specified on the data
sheet. An adaptor plate shall also be provided to support the level switch.
6.0
Inspection during manufacturing, and performance testing shall be in accordance with the
requirements of applicable sections of Company Specification VES-1000 and this specification.
6.2
Vendor shall test each pump and driver for complete performance to determine capacity, head,
efficiency, kilowatts, and NPSH versus flow. Each pump shall be given a performance and
mechanical run test for a period of at leastone hour. Hydrostatic testing will also be required and
shall be in accordance with API-610.
6.3
Performance testing shall be in accordance with API 610 except that a minimum of seven data
points must be included with each point being defined by head, flow and power. Points shall include
shut off, minimum continuous stable flow, rated flow, 110% rated flow and three equally spaced
points between minimum continuous flow and rated flow. Speed checks shall be taken at the start
of data point recording, and at the conclusion of the test.
6.4
NPSH testing shall take place immediately prior to or following the performance run for each pump,
allowing Company inspector to witness both test activities during a single shop visit.
