grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love
of Christ 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge
that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness
of God.
Ephesians 3:17-19
While in prison, Paul wrote to the saints in Ephesus
about the importance of fully understanding the love
of God. He knew that this knowledge would change
them just as it changed him. Following are three
points to describe the depth of the love that God
gives us.
1. Gods love is costly and extravagant.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God! And that is what
we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it
did not know him.
1 John 3:1
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent
his one and only Son into the world that we might live
through him.
1 John 4:9
More than just tokens or words, God demonstrated
His love through a sacrifice that cost Him His
only Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.
What Jesus did restored us to a relationship
with the Father and added us into His family.
What other benefits did Jesus sacrifice give us?

2. Gods love is unconditional.


But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich
in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we
were dead in transgressions it is by grace you have
been saved.
Ephesians 2:4,5

We do not need to change or fix our lives before


coming to God. He has loved us even when we were
at our worst state. Though sin has separated us from
Him in relationship, accepting Jesus as our Lord and
Savior restores us and His love changes us. How has
your life changed when you experienced Gods love?

3. Gods love is limitless.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness
or danger or sword . . . 37No, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Romans 8:35,37
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes
from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God
and knows God.
1 John 4:7
Human love can only go so far especially when
things are not going well. Gods Word says His
love is beyond limit, and that no circumstance or
trouble can separate us from His love. How does
Gods limitless love affect the way we see others?
