Patrick Suppes (* 17. Mrz 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA) ist ein amerikanischer
Wissenschaftstheoretiker.
Nach dem Studium der Mathematik und Philosophie an der Universitt von Oklahoma, Tulsa und Chicago
wurde Suppes nach mehreren Stationen Professor fr Wissenschaftstheorie an der Universitt Stanford. Er
ist ein Vertreter der modell-theoretischen Sicht in der Wissenschaftstheorie und publizierte zur Philosophie
der Mathematik.
Suppes wird zusammen mit Nancy Cartwright, Ian Hacking und John Dupre der Stanford-Schule in der
Wissenschaftstheorie zugerechtet. Diese eint der kritische Umgang mit dem reduktionistischen Ideal der
Einheitswissenschaft.
1999 hielt er die Tarski Lectures. 1962 war er Invited Speaker auf dem Internationalen
Mathematikerkongress in Stockholm (The learning of mathematical concepts).
