Dear Indra,
How are you? I hope you are fine. My family and I are doing just fine.
My school celebrated Teachers Day last week. Activities on that day
started at 7.30 a.m. First we had an assembly in the school hall. The principal
and all the teachers were seated on a colourful and nicely decorated stage.
The school principal gave a speech. He reminded students to study
hard and develop good qualities. This is our way of showing our appreciation to
our teachers for their hard work. At the end of the speech, we clapped loudly to
show our appreciation to our teachers.
Then the Head Prefect delivered a speech. He thanked the teachers for
their endurance and compassion all this while. He also recited a poem entitled
KASIH GURU. This was followed by our class parties. At the parties, we ate
the food that we had brought such as fried noodles, cakes and sandwiches. We
also sang, danced and played indoor games. I enjoyed playing the Musical
Chairs.
After 12 noon, some outdoor games were played. That was the most
exciting event of the day. Teachers and students played various interesting
games like sack race, football, throwing balloons and other relay games. The
students won most of the games. The final event was a concert. Popular songs
were rendered by some students and traditional dances were performed by the
Cultural Club. By then, we were all tired but happy because we had had a
whale of a time that day.
How about the Teachers Day celebration in your school? Do tell me
about it in your next letter. Take care and bye.

MIND MAPPING
Mind Mapping is a way of creating pictures that show ideas in the same
way that they are represented in your brain.
You see your brain uses words, pictures, numbers, logic, rhythm, color
and spatial awareness to build up unique pictures of information.
The ideas are linked together in a way that makes it easy to understand
and remember.

How To Save The Environment
There are many ways that we can do to save the environment.
We must work hand in hand in order to achieve our objective above.
First of all, we should save water. (Body A) Instead of using a
hose, we should use a pail to wash cars. We can use collected rain
water to water plants or carry out other household chores. Next, it is
advisable to turn off the tap after using it.
Apart from that, we have to save energy. (Body B) For example,
we should switch off the electrical appliances when we are not
using them. Other than that we should not watch television until late
at night to save electricity. We can also purchase energy saving
bulbs.
Last but not least, we must protect the air. ( Body C ) One of the
ways is by car pooling. When we share our vehicles, we can reduce air
pollution. Moreover we should always use public transport such as
buses and taxis to go to our places of work. The relevant authorities
should impose fines on factories which pollute the environment.

Turning Over a New Leaf
Samad was a 15-year-old boy. Although he would be sitting for his
PMR examination in a few months, he was not focusing on his preparation.
He often played truant, preferring to spend his time at video arcades and
sometimes at karaoke lounges. He keeps company of misbehaved
students like him.
Thus, it was not surprising that Samad failed his PMR examination.
Soon his friends persuaded him to sell illegal DVDs along a busy street.
One day, when he was selling DVDs, there was a police raid. He managed
to escape. It was a close shave. However, he was not scared. He
continued to break the law by selling the DVDs.
He carried on his illegal trade until he was caught red-handed on the
same street later. He was jailed for three months and fined RM5,000 for
breaking the law.
After completing his jail sentence, he was released. He regretted his
actions and vowed not to do it again. He promised his parents not to commit
offences anymore but to change to a better person. Since then, Samad

SAMPLE ANSWER:
Good morning to the principal, teachers and my fellow students. I am
the president of the Junior Environment Club of our school and I have been
invited to give a speech on how to keep our school clean.
First and foremost, we should keep our classrooms clean. We must
sweep our classrooms every day and always keep our waste paper
baskets empty. We must also remember to wipe the windows daily. We
should not litter everywhere in our classrooms. Rubbish must be thrown
into waste paper baskets. We should not let rubbish overflow the waste
paper baskets as it will be an eyesore.
In addition we must remember to flush toilets after using them. It is
very unhealthy to leave toilets not flushed as they will emit a stench. We
must not throw objects into toilet bowls. This will cause the toilet bowls
to clog. We should also keep the sinks clean by not throwing tissues
and rubbish into them. After all, we are the ones who use the toilets so
we should not dirty them.
Introduction
Besides this, we should also put all used plates and glasses in
proper places such as in basins provided in the canteen. We should not
leave food scraps everywhere as it will attract flies. Moreover used
plates and glasses should not be left on the canteen tables. In this way
we can help to keep the canteen clean.
That is all I have to say this morning. I hope that all of you will
cooperate and keep our beloved school clean. Thank you.

campsite should be away from trails and dead trees. Avoid slopes, high ridges and wet sites. Do
not choose campsites that are below flood level or are highly frequented by wildlife. Set up camp
as early as possible and familiarize yourself with the surroundings. This helps to prevent injuries
from moving about in the dark at night. Make sure that you bring enough food to last the trip. The

You will need at least two litres of water per person per day. Use water from a natural

Do remember your camp etiquette. The campsite is part of nature. In areas of sensitive
