The

MATH

WORKS
The MathWorks, Inc., located in Natick, MA, was
founded in 1984 to develop and market interactive
engineering and scientific software products that
facilitate the practical use of mathematics, numeric
computation, and simulation in engineering and
research. Since that time, The MathWorks has introduced MATLABTM - the leading interactive software
for numeric computation, analysis, and control system
design, SIMULABTM for simulating nonlinear dynamic
systems, and an extensive family of MATLABTM
application toolboxes to address specific vertical-market
requirements. The MathWorks products are available
for a wide variety of computer platforms, ranging from

personal computers to supercomputers.

The MathWorks products are used worldwide by
engineers, scientists, analysts, and mathematicians at
leading corporations, research laboratories and government organizations including Boeing, General Motors,
Eastman Kodak, General Electric, E. I. DuPont,
Motorola, Jaguar, Siemens AG, and Hewlett-Packard, as

well as at hundreds of educational institutions. All of

The MathWorks products are distributed throughout
the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Pacific Rim.
The staff at the MathWorks includes scientists,
mathematicians, control engineers, electrical engineers,
mechanical engineers and geophysicists combining a
wide range of expertise to respond to diverse customers
diverse computational needs. Technical support is
provided to all customers via telephone hot-line, email,
mail, and fax by dedicated support specialists who are
available to answer general product and application

specific questions.
To help customers further explore the power of
SIMULABTM, MA TLABTM, and the MATLABTM
toolboxes, The MathWorks offers product training and

application short courses at regular intervals throughout

the year. Conducted by well-known researchers,
professors and instructors, these courses use a combina-

tion of lectures and hands-on computer exercises to

provide an in-depth exploration of the product capabilities applied to real problems. All courses are offered at
The MathWorks training center in Natick; on-site
training is available upon request.
SIMULABTM integrated with MATLABTM offers a
unique combination of modeling, interactive simulation
and analysis capabilities in a single software environment. SIMULABTM is ideal for electrical, control,
mechanical, chemical, aerospace, and automotive
engineering applications; in addition, it is appropriate
for anyone seeking to model real-world, continuous
systems. MATLABTM combines over 300 built-in
mathematical functions, 2-D and 3-D graphing capabilities and an underlying programming environment that
enables users to create their own functions. Application
toolboxes extend MA TLABTM by adding specialized
functions to address the more specific needs of vertical
market scientific and engineering applications, such as
control system design, digital signal processing, system
identification, and optimization.
SIMULABTM is well-suited to solving a broad range
of continuous system simulation problems and is
currently available for Macintosh, Sun SPARCstation,
Apollo, DEC VAX/VMS, DEC RISC, and HP900/300
and 400 systems. A Microsoft Windows version will be
released Q4 1991.
