Punjab govt slashes VAT on

e-bikes, e-scooters, e-rickshaws

A cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh
Badal here slashed the VAT from 13 per cent plus 10 per cent surcharge (14.30 per
cent) to 5.5 per cent plus 10 per cent surcharge (6.05 per cent) on e-bikes, e-scooters
and e-rickshaws.

constitutedunderthecontrolofTourismandCulturalAffairsDepartmenttoundertakethe
maintenanceofSriHarmandirSahib,SriDurgianaMandir,RamTirath,TownHall,Gobind
GarhFortandUrbanHaatatAmritsarinsteadoflocalgovernmentdepartment.
Itwasalsodecidedtonameitas'AmritsarTourismDevelopmentAuthority'and
GobindgarhFortAmritsarhadalsobeenincludedwithinitsambit.

Approximately500to750metersareaaroundSriDarbarSahib,GobindgarhFort,Durgiana
MandirandRamTirathComplexwouldbeunderthejurisdictionofthisauthority.
Theauthorityhasbeenauthorisedtoexecuteworksrelatedtomaintenance,cleanliness,
electricity,monuments-lighting,sanitation,upkeepofroads,solidwastemanagementand
otherrelatedworksinthisarea.
"ThefundswouldbeprovidedfromtheCesscollectedundertheExcisePolicyofthestate
governmenttocarryouttheactivitiesoftheauthority,"hesaid.
InordertoimpartqualityHighereducationtothepeople,theCabinetalsoapprovedthe
settingupoftwoself-financedprivateuniversities'SriGuruRamDasUniversityofHealth
Sciences'andKhalsaUniversitybothatAmritsar.
TheCabinetalsogaveex-postfactoapprovalforthecreationofthreepostsofChief
ParliamentarySecretaries(CPSs),tobringfarmoreefficiencyinstateadministration
besidesdisseminationofpoliciesandprogrammesofthestategovernmentinaresult
orientedmanner.
