What are Prepositions?

It is a word used before a noun or pronoun to relate it to the other words. When you
form a phrase with the preposition it is called a prepositional phrase. This consists of a
preposition and its object. (thefreedictionary.com)
For example:
My English books are in my house.
in my house is the prepositional phrase. In is the preposition and house is the object of
the prepositional phrase.

Why are prepositions and prepositional phrases important?

It is important mainly because they indicate a relationship between the object of the
prepositional phrase with the rest of the sentence
In these examples, we see how the object of the prepositional phrase table is related
with the rest of the sentence

The notebook is on the table.

The notebook is under the table.
The book is beside the table.
She held the notebook over the table.
* Cuando usamos las preposiciones y los prepositional phrases unimos ideas y
relacionamos sustantivos con el resto de la oracin. Es decir, damos mas profundidad a
nuestras oraciones y somos mas claros al hablar puesto que damos mas infromacin.
