JACKSON - Tensions have flared here again over a

steady influx of homebuyers from the Orthodox Jewish
community, this time over videos of talks given by Orthodox leaders that township officials say lend further
credence to claims of neighborhood blockbusting.
Calling some of the comments reprehensible and
possibly illegal, Rob Nixon, the Township Council president, announced Tuesday night that the governing body
is asking state authorities and the U.S. Department of
Justice to investigate.
Those videos very strongly indicated what I think
many of us had feared or have attempted to prove, and
that is there seems to be a cohesive attempt to blockbust our neighborhoods, to look at Jackson as a place to
be taken over, Nixon said.

In Cleveland, the lobbyists mostly stayed away
from New Jerseys Republican delegation, hosting
none of the breakfasts or late-night parties typical of
conventions past.
In Philadelphia, however, Democrats expected so
much attention from lobbyists that they created a
nonprofit to solicit them and others for any one of
seven levels of sponsorship at party events.
And while Democrats listed the names of donors
on signs, convention materials and on public schedules, how much those donors gave for the sponsorship was not something the lobbyists or the Democratic Party leaders would discuss.
I would assume they get publicity out of it, said
John Currie, the state party chairman.
It made sense for Democrats to promote the
names of sponsors, Currie said. But he rejected any
suggestion that the paid sponsorship and the events
hosted by the lobbyists actually advance their interests.
Most of these people are not in a position to give
them business, and its definitely not a quid pro quo,
Currie said.
Lobbyists traditionally attend each partys convention to throw receptions, sponsor buffet delegate
meetings and generally mix with the politicians they

PHILADELPHIA - New Jersey

Democrats have gotten so PC this
week. And some who have made the
pilgrimage to the Democratic National Convention proudly asserted that
political correctness is part of the
DNA of the Democratic Party.
I want to make a case today for
being politically correct, because what politically
correct means is the platform of the Democratic
Party, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., told the
New Jersey delegates at the Renaissance Philadelphia Airport hotel Wednesday. We are the ones that
have a platform that agrees with the majority of the
American people.
Such a bold declaration is startling given that
establishment Democrats have generally avoided
being seen as unabashed champion of political correctness, a phrase that emerged from the culture

SEASIDE PARK - Funtown Pier, badly damaged by

superstorm Sandy and then destroyed by a windswept
boardwalk fire, will not be rebuilt, the piers owner said.
The decision was made Tuesday night by pier owner
William Major after Seaside Parks Planning Board voted to approve a master plan revision that limits ride
heights to 100 feet. That would rule out the 200- to 300foot thrill rides that Major said are necessary to make
rebuilding the pier economically viable.
For more than 18 months, Major and his lawyer, Steven Leone, have been negotiating with borough officials about a proposal to rebuild the pier with six to 10
towering rides. A pier has stood on the Funtown site for
nearly 90 years.
But many residents have come to Planning Board
meetings to oppose any plan that included larger rides,
saying Seaside Park is a quiet, family resort that does
