1. INTRODUCTION
The National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) has prepared this Admissions Guidebook as a tool to simplify the admission process into
health institutions in the country. The Admissions into health institutions is processed through Central Admission System (CAS). The CAS
applications are lodged through the Internet. The process is interactive in such a way that the applicant can easily and conveniently follow the
instructions given by the system in the course of lodging an application. Applicants are strongly advised to read carefully the Admission
Guidebook before they start lodging their application in order to be familiar with the entry requirements, location and fees of the institutions
aspired.

2. Important Issues to Observe

2.1.
Deadlines for Application
In order for the applications to be considered and processed without due stress, applicants are advised to observe and adhere to the
dates indicated. Failure to adhere to these dates may result into rejection of applications. In any case, no admission will be processed
beyond advertised dates.
2.2.
Websites in Use
All applicants will apply through Central Admission System which is available on NACTE and MoHCDGEC websites:
(http://www.nacte.go.tzand http://www.moh.go.tz). Applicants can also use the CAS website: http://www.cas.ac.tz. Applicants are
advised to follow the application instructions and related registration stages carefully to avoid any inconveniences.
2.3.
Application Fee and Mode of Payment
Applicants will be required to pay a Non-refundable application fee of Tshs.30,000/- payable through M-Pesa.

2.4.
Minimum Entry Requirements for Admission
Applicants, who aspire to be admitted into health training institutions registered by the Council (government and non-government OR
recognized by Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elders and Children ) for academic year 2016/2017, should
meet the following minimum entry requirements:

Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) passes including Biology;
2. Technician certificate level
Nursing, Clinical medicine, Environmental health and Pharmaceutical Sciences
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) passes in non-religious subjects
including D passes in Physics/Engineering Sciences, Chemistry and Biology;
Health Records and Information Technology
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with passes in Mathematics, English, Chemistry
and Biology;
Medical Laboratory Sciences
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with passes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics,
English and Mathematics;
3. Ordinary Diploma level
Nursing, Clinical medicine, Clinical Dentistry, Environmental Health Sciences, Dental Laboratory Technology and
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physiotherapy
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) passes in non-religious subjects

Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with C pass in Physics/Engineering Sciences and

Note: For Government institutions, applicants are required to have completed O Level between 2011 and 2015 (inclusively).

IN-SERVICE ENTRY QUALIFICATION

1. Basic Technician Certificate in Community Health
An applicant who has received informal training in Community Health Workers (CHWs), Para Social work (PSW) and
Medical Attendant (MAs) recognized programs; and practiced in the respective area AND Holder of Certificate of
Secondary Education Examination OR Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination. Admission of such
applicants into the programme will follow guidelines and procedures for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
prescribed by NACTE.
Necessary Attachments:
Birth Certificate
Letter from Village Executive Officer (VEO)
Certificate for CHWs, PSWs or MAs training (if attended)
2. Ordinary Diploma
Nursing
Holder of Certificate NTA level 5 in related field with D pass in Biology, Chemistry or Physics (CSEE) for the
graduates starting from 2010; OR
Graduates before NTAs system should have certificate in Nursing and Midwifery/Public Health Nurse B and at least D
Pass in any of science subject; AND
Work experience of two (2) years and above,
Register and License to practice by TNMC
Technician Certificate and Transcript in the related field
Letter of permission from employer.
Environmental Health Sciences
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE); AND
Holder of Certificate in Environmental Health Sciences and Transcript from Health Training Institution recognized by
the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elders and Children; AND

License to practice
Applicants with foreign certificates
Applicants with foreign certificates of secondary education will be required to submit their certificates to National Examination
Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for equivalence. To download equivalence form visit NECTA Website (http://www.necta.go.tz/).
Applicants with Technician Certificates and Diplomas should submit their certificate to the National Council for Technical Education
(NACTE) for equivalence. To download equivalence form or apply through the Award Evaluation System visit NACTE website
(www.nacte.go.tz).
2.6.
M-PESA Payment Codes
Applicants are advised to keep in safe place their M-Pesa payment Codes for future reference and payment verification. M-Pesa
payment code can only be used once.
2.7.
Mode of Application
All applications should be lodged online. No applications outside CAS will be considered. Applicants who are admitted directly by
institutions will not be recognized.

3. CAS Institutions
The Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elders and Children directed from 2014/2015 academic year onwards
that health institutions should admit students through CAS. Table 2 shows the list of participating institutions in CAS for 2016/2017
academic year. Institutions which will participate in CAS after the publication of this guide book will be included provided they are
approved by MoHCDGEC and NACTE.

If your answer is Yes you will be required to fill in the details of your award and upload your award.
