According to Gregorc's learning style, I fit in the Abstract Sequential Learner. I prefer verbal, logical and analytical approaches like those in multiple choice tests. Right brained learners' thoughts are frequently in code and may have bizarre night dreams.

I fit in the Abstract Sequential Learner although I
also saw some of my traits in the Concrete Random Learner.
I prefer verbal, logical and analytical approaches
like those in multiple choice tests. I think I enjoy solitude more than anyone. Sometimes, I am highly skeptical, though I don’t know what particular stimuli makes me be like this. I don’t like external (take note of the word external!) distractions when I am studying. I can catch up with my lesson more when it is written, verbal, and visual instructions. I enjoy the use of internet not only for entertainment but mostly for educational purposes (having many tabs open for different topics!).
I sometimes prefer trial-and-error approach and I
am sometimes impulsive. I only read directions if I have to. I enjoy computer games (role-playing games) and simulations, and multimedia (though I don’t really have ALL the resources!). Sometimes, I enjoy independent studies. For the Brain Dominance…
I tried brain dominance tests online and they all
tell me one thing… I am a right-brained learner!
They tell me that I am holistic and intuitive,
which is true most of the time.
I really don't pay attention much to directions
(except when I really have to!) and I kinda get bored (or lost) when reading them (so I have to read them thrice!). When looking for answers, I scan at books quickly and I don’t really like reading them in details (except when it is an interesting novel or when I skipped a lesson at school).
I learn effectively in visual, kinesthetic and audio
images (like in instructional videos or demonstrations). I don't memorize well so I need to visualize a picture most of the time so I can recall the facts. For example, when answering identification-type tests, I can answer them not because I know them by heart, but because I remembered where and what part in my notebook did I write it and what scenes happened at school when that topic was discussed.
I have frequent weird dreams. No wonder! Right
brained learners’ thoughts are frequently in code and may have bizarre images in night dreams leaving them confused as to what they mean. When right brains talk to you, they look at you while listening and look away to the left when answering a question. Odd to me, but true.
However, like most right-brains are, I can't
explain what I feel well. I am mostly misunderstood. They think I am snobbish when I am really just shy. They think I am problematic when I don’t speak much. Sometimes, I think of one thing, and then say another not realizing I have done it so. The result is that I don't realize what I said and I may get lost in conversations (for example, if chats have no history records, I’ll end up asking the person I’m chatting with about the last thing I said while typing new topics of discussion).
Here are some other traits of a right-brained
learner that applies to me:
• Take down notes but lose them; may have a
hard time keeping track of research • I might have a hard time making up my mind • I seem dreamy, but I’m really deep in thought • I like to draw, or play music • I like fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery stories • I may lose track of time • I notice (and my mom also says) that I am unpredictable • I tend to get lost • I can listen to music or watch TV while studying • I prefer reading while lying down • I am interested in “the unexplained” (aka supernatural events) • I enjoy English classes • I daydream a lot when I have nothing else to do • I need to not leave things unattended so I can finish things • I prefer to work with group • I can memorize music or even a • Think better when lying down • I become restless during long verbal explanations • I prefer to learn through free exploration According to Kolb’s Learning Styles…
I learn mostly by feeling, reflection,
watching, and listening.
It shows that I am a Diverger. I like imaginative,
innovative activities. I like generating a wide range of ideas (on certain topics), and discussion (at some parts). I try my best to be sensitive to the feelings of others. I like being personally involved in the learning experience and group activities. I enjoy independent studies, web searches, and receiving many examples. According to Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences…
I apply to:
• Verbal/Linguistic since I enjoy reading,
writing, and computer-mediated communication.
• Visual-Spatial since I like drawings, photos,
slides, animation, using mental imagery, developing web pages, showing videos.
• Bodily Kinesthetic since I like being able to
manipulate a web page with the mouse, visiting an avatar virtual world that allows some control of the avatar's movements.
• Musical/Rhythmic since I like studying while
listening to music. I also enjoy exploring an avatar virtual world that includes background music as part of the experience. According to Field Independence…
I am a Field dependent learner:
• I am unable to separate figures from
background. • I excel at remembering faces. • I have trouble understanding visual cues, for example, recognizing icons on a computer screen. • I enjoy the social aspects of learning. • I easily get affected by criticisms, but try to look at it in a positive angle. • I am influenced by external feedbacks. • I place emphasis on facts. • I prefer learning through connections on my own experience.
