Fascinating Medical Occurrences Related in Threes



The list is about 10 fascinating medical occurrences and anomalies that
either relates to three organs of the human body or three human beings.

1. The woman with three kidneys.
In 1997, a woman in her 40s named Dena Parry thought she had ulcer.
After further investigation by doctors, it was discovered that she had
three
healthy
kidneys

since donated the kidney to Wayne Dempsey who suffered from a
serious kidney disease.

2. The man with three testicles.
A man by the name GardenOfGandalf shocked the world by showing
off three testicles on Reddit. He suffers from a rare disorder called
Triorchidism that is a result of poor development before birth
(http://www.medicaldaily.com/man-3-testes-waits-until-18thbirthday-share-image-his-polyorchidism-reddit-272514). In 2013, a
total of 140 cases were known to exist. Amongst these are cases of four
testicles, which are generally referred Polyorchidism.

3. The baby with three heads.
A baby boy was born in Georgetown Public Hospital with what doctors
described
as
two
extra
heads

head with all the features of a normal baby but the two additional heads
had no features except some hair. Doctors were unsure exactly what the
two additional heads were.

4. The three legged man.
In 1889, Francesco Lentini was born in Sirocusa, Sicily. He had two legs
and an extra leg that was fused to his back. All his legs were of different
lengths but he could walk, run, jump and even ride a bicycle. Lentinis
extra leg was as a result of an undeveloped twin brother that existed
before birth. He also had two sets of working male genitals

legged-man/). Lentini died in 1966 at the age of seventy-eight. He had a


wife named Theresa Murray and they had four healthy children.

5. The third nipple.
The third nipple is a fairly common anomaly in both men and women. It
is most likely to occur randomly although it has been known to occur
within families. Amongst the famous people to have had the third nipple
was Anne Boleyn, wife of King Henry VIII of England. Also, the gene
responsible for the third nipple is called Scaramanga, which was named
after the James Bond villain Scaramanga, who was known to possess the
abnormality

of breast cancer. It is also associated with renal disease and heart
deformities.

6. The baby with three penises.
An Indian baby named Uttar Pradesh was born with three penises and
no anus. The abnormality is referred to as Diphallia; a rare medical
anomaly whereby a child or a man has multiple penises

condition usually relates to other anomalies such as gastrointestinal
disorders (absence of anus in the case of Pradesh). However, doctors
were able give the baby a single penis by fusing two of the healthiest
organs and removing the least functional of the three. In addition, a
pathway through the rectum was surgically made to help the baby to
pass feces normally. According to doctors in Sion Hospital, the baby is
expected to make use of both his hybrid penis and his new anus.

7. The baby with three eyes.
In Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano (Nigeria), a baby boy
fascinated doctors as he was delivered with three functional eyes

Sajida Ashiru, narrated that she had a normal pregnancy and delivery.
Although there was an eye at the upper part of the left eye, the baby was
healthy and showed no sign of any ailment. According to doctors, the
abnormality may be as a result of drug abuse during the first trimester.

8. One girl, three biological parents.


Alana Saarinen is a normal teenage except she has DNA from three

She basically has some mitochondria of a third lady in her cells that is as
a result of infertility treatment. Alanas mother, Sharon Saarinen,
couldnt conceive a child through numerous IVF procedures therefore;
doctors believed that there was some missing element within the
cytoplasm that didnt function properly. As such, some cytoplasm,
containing mitochondria from a donor was embedded in Sharons egg
and the egg was fertilized with her husbands sperm. Alana was born
healthy and has no serious known health problems.

9. The baby with three arms.
On April 1st 2006 in the Chinese province of Anhui, a child named Jiejie
was burn with one right arm and two left arms

lacked proper functionally as such, a decision had to be made on which
arm was to be removed. The inner arm was eventually removed in a
procedure that lasted three hours. The decision was taken because the
outer arm had better chances of continuous growth.

10. Three generations connected by one womb.
In Gothenburg Sweden, a single womb connected three generations of a
single family. The grandmother donated her womb to her daughter who
lost
her
womb
to
cancer

sperm and the baby was conceived through vitro fertilization. The

that carried out the procedure.
