OPERATOR SELECTION CRITERIA

Selection should be base upon
- Wether the candidate is fit to attend training.
- Will he/she be successful sewing room operator.
Aimed at segregating candidates who will be successful from aspirants.

PRELIMINARY SCREENING

Minimum Age : As Per Local Law.

What Should be the maximum age
Can somebody above 30 can be taken for training for sewing operator?
What Should be the minimum standard of education.
What should be the maximum standard of education?
Why do we require minimum standard of education?
Education: 8th or 10th?
Whether to accept left handed persons or not?

PHYSICAL TEST
Body Movement Test
What are the parts uses in regular sewing Machine Operation?
Inability to perform any of these body movements hampers ability to sew.
How to observe normal body movements?
-Ask Candidate to sit on sewing Machine.
-Ask them to perform different motions which involve normal body
movements.
Visual Activity

Eyes ability to defect finer details.

Eyes ability to see and focus image at a certain distance.
Standard20/20 or 6/6 vision (by eye specialists)
What tasks under sewing machine get affected with less visual activity?
Measuring: Snellan Chart (as used by eye specialists)

Color Blindness
Also Known as color vision deficiency
Certain colors/shades are undistinguishable.
Importance in sewing: Shades matching while sewing different parts.
Measuring: Identification of different shades of a similar color in a palette of
colour given and segregate accordingly.
Test In well lit room
Normal person will read all letters.

MENTAL TESTS
Concentration Test
Importance:
-At training to understand.
-At workplace to concentrate for longer hours.

 Procedure:
-Printed Sheet with 12 x 30 Grid.
-Candidate has to strike off similar pairs of numbers within allotted time.
-Higher the strike offs higher is the score.
Tune and Marble Test
Candidates to drop marbles through tube into a box which has two
compartments.
30 marbles/compartment
Checks accuracy in movement and handling.
Needle and thread test
Rows of needles inches apart row wise and column wise.
Candidate to thread in sequential manner from front back,left to right and right
to left.
Eye Coordination and dexterity of fingers.
