Akron Care Center Employee Receives Honor

AKRON, IowaAnastasia Hoffer, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Akron Care
Center, has been named as an Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) Foundation
scholarship recipient. Cindy Baddeloo, IHCA Senior Vice President/COO, presented
Hoffer with the Foundations $1,000 Northwest District Nurse Scholarship for her
outstanding commitment to providing long term services and supports to the
residents she serves at Akron Care Center.
Finding her passion in health care, Hoffer has been a CNA at Akron Care Center for
over two years.
One of the biggest rewards Ive gained from working in long term care is the
connection and relationship with each and every resident, said Hoffer in her
nomination essay. Its uplifting to be able to be there for them and make them
smile.
Alan Bruinsma, Akron Care Center Administrator, speaks very highly of Hoffer.
Anastasia is a very bright young lady, said Bruinsma. She knows small details
about our residentsnot just what they like, but why they like it. This is just an
example of how engaging she is with our residents and shows maturity well beyond
her years.
Anastasia has impressed me since her first day of employment with her remarkable
ability to care for other human beings, said Tori Pangburn, Akron Care Center
Director of Nursing. I can say without a shadow of doubt that Anastasia is one of
the most hard-working and optimistic nursing assistants that I have worked with.
Hoffer will be attending South Dakota State University in the fall to earn her
bachelors degree in nursing.
The Iowa Health Care Association Foundation is supported by the 819 member
organizations of the Iowa Health Care Association, which includes Iowa nursing
facilities, assisted living communities, residential care facilities, home health
agencies and long term services and supports associated businesses.
