To Whom It May Concern:
I was thrilled to hear that you were hiring interns for your company. I was especially
interested in your company because it deals in engineering tools such as hybrid/electric
drives and powertrains. I had worked with drives and powertrains during my time in
FIRST Robotics as it was an essential part of our robots. While I gathered a good
understanding of these systems through robotics, I expect that my work here will improve
upon that knowledge.
While perusing your requirements, I noticed that you were very interested in
candidates who had experience with C and Excel commands. As a student who has
focused heavily on computer sciences, I believe I have extensive experience with both of
those programs in particular. Outside of simply knowing these languages, I have also
used these programming skills competitively in the University of Michigans hackathon
known as Mhacks. Furthermore, another preference your company showed was towards
students with a passion for the automotive. I spent three years in high school as a major
part of the school Robotics team. As one of its 12 regular members, I was spending
upwards of ten hours a week as part of both the design and manufacturing teams. I
worked tirelessly on the robot ensuring it had optimal movement and articulation
capabilities. After all my work had been poured into the robot, the climax came as this
robot became the first our school had that competed on the world stage. My experiences
with the robotics team also gave me valuable experience in both teamwork and
communication, two areas which are heavily stressed in this particular field.
Finally, you may be wondering why I chose this particular company, and it is a very
simple answer. This particular company offers the best combination in terms of skills
gained, skills needed, and the experience possibilities. As I am majoring in electrical
engineering, I will be interacting with hardware more often than other related professions.
As a producer of such hardware, this company will help me gain experience with these
tools and increase my versatility. This company is known for manufacturing parts to
assist automotive manufacturing such as transmissions, fuel sensors and actuators. I feel
experience with the process of manufacturing products is an important part of
engineering. As such, I would like nothing more than to be hired by this company as its
engineering tools summer intern. I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Harman Singh
