DISCUSSION

Omni directional antenna is an antenna that has 360 degrees of coverage. Observe the uniform
circular pattern. The antenna is truly omni directional and offers no gain. Observe the
distinctive peaks of dB every 120 degrees. This is due to the gain characteristics.
Omnidirectional antennas are a subset of the directional antennas, which have the property of
radiating or receiving electromagnetic waves more effectively in some directions than in others.
The general procedure has been outlined. There are, however, certain guidelines that should be
followed that are specific to each procedure have slotted waveguide omni directional antenna
is acting as probe antenna so it was our transmitter and acted as a receiver antenna.
In this lab, during conducted faced many errors and manage to rectify it. This are the errors
faced, the reflective bodies of our caused fluctuations in readings. The movement of people
around the field caused fluctuations in readings. Movement of the attenuator caused
fluctuations in readings. The pole and rotator box altered some of the radiation patterns. The
movement and positioning of the coaxial cable altered patterns. The wrong mounting of the
antennas caused altered readings. The increasing temperature of the transmitter lowered dB
levels. Operator error. Antenna design issues.

CONCLUSION
This lab was successfully conducted and the objectives of this lab, to plot the radiation pattern
of an omni directional antenna have been achieved. From this lab, learn to be familiar with the
most popular antenna design programs and different parameters associated with the specific
antenna. While directional antennas can be of great value for certain indoor applications, the
huge majority of indoor installations utilize omnidirectional antennas for the reasons
mentioned in lab. The selections of an antenna, directional or omnidirectional, should be
strictly determined by a correct and proper site survey.

DISCUSSION

Directional antennas focus energy in a particular direction. This directional antenna is an

antenna that has 360 degrees of coverage. Directional antennas are used in some base station
applications where coverage over a sector by separate antennas is desired. Point to point links
also benefit from directional antennas. The antenna radiation pattern is a measure of its power
or radiation distribution with respect to a particular type of coordinates. We generally consider
spherical coordinates as the ideal antenna is supposed to radiate in a spherically symmetrical
pattern.
