HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 79-81; 1 Corintians 3
Monday, August 8

Col. 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in
the word of the truth of the gospel;
True Lord and Glorious God:
Scientists say hedonistic pursuit of pleasure is like empty calories and
produces stress, but pursuit of meaning brings greater satisfaction. My hope in
you as a minister is the mainstay of my joy. When I think about your glory it
brings passion to life on earth. How could I do anything halfhearted once I
realize where I am going and what you have planned? Biblical rest does not mean
sleeping; it means not straining and laboring in my working. Now thats heaven!
Give me an open door of opportunity to share the gospel with _________
and __________ at some point this week (at least some time this year). They are
hurting and spent. Heaven should be a place of rest for them!
In the mean time I am in the field of battle. I am tempted by the flesh
within, and assaulted by foes without. I have little or no peace down here. But up
there I will realize and experience full victory, so I have to fight to prove it right
now. I have bereavement after setback down here, but up there I am immortal,
and will only know what it is to go from strength to strength in service for you.
Why doesnt my friend __________ want that more?
Sin is my constant grief right now. These times try my soul as the Holy
Spirit helps perfect my holiness, but up there I will be perfected in holiness.
There will be no pests or pestilence; no poison ivy in the ditches. It will not be a
wilderness, but the Promised Land.
Do not let me forget about the present while I contemplate the future. Let
my study of the future sanctify my present, and bring it to its highest usefulness.
Hope of heaven is the most potent force to produce present virtue. Amen.
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING
Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 88-90; 1 Corinthians 6
Thursday, August 11

Rom. 1:14-15 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise,
and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at
Rome also.

LORD, Im runnin, tryin' to make a hundred

Because ninety nine and a half wont do
On my knees everyday, Lord, please hear me when I pray
Please forgive me when I stumble
Lord, I wanna be in that number
Lord, Im runnin tryin to make one hundred
Because ninety nine and a half wont do
Satan tries to turn me around, tries to make me lose my ground
But I dont worry and I dont fret
Ive come to far, and Im not tired yet
Lord, Im runnin tryin to make one hundred
Because ninety nine and a half wont do

TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES

Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 82-84; 1 Corinthians 4
Tuesday, August 9

WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 85-87; 1 Corinthians 5
Wednesday, August 10

Matt. 12:13-14 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it
forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. Then the Pharisees went out, and held a
council against him, how they might destroy him.

Ezek. 35:10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be
mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:

Holy Lord:
Your commands always get right to the point. It is not, Rub your right
hand with your left. Or even, Give me a gift with your good hand. No, if the
hand is withered, then the command is to stretch it out. How often I find you
commanding me to do the very thing I feel I cannot do. You always go to the
root of my unbelief, because as soon as I obey, I am healed!
You do not say to my lost friends, Go home and pray. When they say,
Acts 16:30 Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
The only effective answer gets right to the heart of the matter:
Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
They may not even know what they are asking, but help me always give
them the clearest answer. My lost friends do not need to go home and read the
Bible per sethey need to stretch out their faith! The gospel is never preached
unless I get around to the topic, for salvation comes by nothing short of faith.
Thats the hardest point Lord, as you know. Yes, and thats why you want
to use me to deliver your command to believe. So in my own life, help me mix
faith with every prayer, and faith with every act of repentance. That is the only
thing that makes my work acceptable to you. You demand faith in yourself and
faith in your Son, in order for people to be saved and me to be sanctified.
The Pharisees who look on the results of such faith will always be jealous.
Give me grace to bear-up under their glare, knowing I am doing the work of
Christ today on his behalf. Let me glorify your Son Jesus! Amen.
FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 91-93; 1 Corinthians 7
Friday, August 12

Lord, are you here?

Edoms princes saw Israel left desolate. They counted on making an easy
conquest. Unbeknownst to them, one thing stood in their way: the LORD was
there. In your presence there is security. In your presence is our revival.
Whatever may be the machinations and devices of the Devil todayat my
work, in my family, and even over my ministrythere is still only one barrier to
thwart his plans: the LORD was there!
The saints are your heritage, so you will support my witness. What a
comfort that assurance brings as I consider the trouble and spiritual conflict that
flare-up whenever I try to explain the gospel! I am constantly opposed, but
perpetually preserved.
Satan shoots his arrows against my faith because he knows it is the most
potent weapon in my witnessing. Help me today defy Hell and all the power of
his fiery darts. They are not only turned aside, but also quenched by my shield!
My ministry is the subject of Satans attack. Those things I do to earn the
right to speak about the gospel are constantly assailed, as my motives are
questioned. I never yet tried to serve you but what I did not come under fire.
Help me by your Spirit to have a hope bright and sparkling, a love warm
and fervent, a patience all-enduring, and a zeal flaming like coals of fire. By that
means let me win someone to Christ because they have to say, the Lord is there!
When I start to witness I need to see, the Lord is here. When I endure trial I
need to know, the Lord is here. Where the storm is worst, the water highest, and
the wind coldest, I stand upon the Rock for salvation. JEHOVAH SHAMMAH.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 94-96; 1 Corinthians 8
Saturday, August 13

Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to
pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Psa. 111:1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the
assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

O God Our Father:

Jesus sought the mountain to avoid a public display and distraction. If
completion of your purpose is based on similar praying, then we will not pray to
be seen. We will pray simply to be heard and receive blessings from God.
Let us get alone with you, even as a group in our gatherings, in order to
move your arm. We do not need a parade when we pray. We need to pour-out
our souls in serious supplication without drawing the attention of the world.
Since we seek to be used in the accomplishment of your mission, then Lord
we seek the mountain. We seek that place of intercession for our pastors, for our
ministers in lands abroad, for our children, for our city, for our services. O Lord!
Son of God, help us enter the glorious temple in heaven when we pray. We
admit, we know not what we should pray for as we ought, Rom. 8:26. But we trust the
Holy Ghost to groan for us, and trust you, in your High Priestly office, will
present our petitions before the throne in a manner that ensures their answer.
No ritualistic ceremony can possibly equal the opportunity of simple
supplication. When we come before you as a church we come before you on our
knees (at least in our hearts). And then we stand in wonder and adoration to
worship you alone and praise you for all you do. We ask for the speedy entrance
of your word into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (for the entrance of thy words giveth
light, Psa. 119:130). We pray for our pastors, preachers and teachers. We want
your anointing on them. Touch their lips and touch our ears as you touch all
hearts who assemble with us this Sunday. Our sighs and tears bring you our true
desires. Move in our midst, O Thou great Jehovah! Amen.

Lord and Redeemer:

Let me now put away all doubt, questions and complaining (for they are
really all rebellion) and give myself to praising you both with my life as well as my
lips. The best way to make my witness effective to the unsaved is to give
people an example of a saved life. If I do not set a good example, then I
become a leader in teaching others to do badly.
David brought you nothing less than his whole heart. All his love went out
to you, and his zeal, skill and fervency went with it. Likewise, I cannot praise you
acceptably if I have divided affections. What (or who) is distracting me and
pulling my heart away from you right now? My all is so small, that it dishonors
you for me to give you any less. Since all your works are praiseworthy, I need to
adore you with all my being. Make it so, Jesus! Praise is always proper, and my
heart needs to be ready for a hallelujah any time, and in every place.
Psa. 111:2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have
pleasure therein.
Your works are all great in design, in size, in number, and in excellence.
Even your little things are great. Each of the productions of your power and
works of your wisdom are great to the wise in heart.
I love you, so I absolutely delight in what you have done. I recognize there
is more to it than what meets the eye. Help me study and understand everything,
especially the painful parts. Like the biologist ransacks nature, and the historian
pries into hidden facts and mysteries, so help me dig into the mine of scripture to
store up precious gems of truth. Do it for Jesus sake. Amen.

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

THIS WEEKS EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)

TITHEWORK

1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God
hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.
3)

TEAMWORD

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)

Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in

PROMPT PETITIONS KICKSTART DEVOTION

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
