Annotated Bibliography: 3-D Print Homes, a Solution to End Homelessness
Bailey, Ellen, and Alexander Stingl. "Homelessness: An Overview."Points Of View:
Homelessness (2016): 1. Points of View Reference Center. Web. 23 July 2016.
In the article it examines the debate over ways of solving the problem of homelessness in
the U.S. It says that the government should provide services to the homeless citizens because
housing is a basic right. On the opposing side of things the article goes on saying that the critics
claim that the homeless should be responsible for their own situations of being homeless since
homelessness is mainly the result of their own personal problems. In analysis of the article there
has always been homeless people in America since colonial days. But Homelessness in recent
decades has become a national, rather than a local concern but that is not the case in 2004, a
reported 2 million Americans were homeless. Of these about 40 percent were families with
children Based on the article looking at a way to end homelessness. Ill be using stories form this
article for my Ethos Pathos, and Kieros.

In the article, Intervention effects of supplying homeless individuals with permanent
housing: a 3-year prospective study. Fichter, and Quadflieg, talk about the intervention effects

of supplying homeless individuals with permanent housing. The study took a group of 109 males
and 20 females these participants were assessed at a baseline1-3-year follow-up concerning
mental illness (SCID-1), psychopathology, and global assessment of functioning, emotional
liability and alcohol consumption. The results of this study showed a substantial (86%) were able
to maintain or improve the stability of housing. There was only minor changes observed
concerning mental illness and global functioning. In analysis of this article having homeless
individuals in homes or community housing after social counselling seems to be a necessary
component to decrease homelessness. The rhetorical evaluation on this article has relevance into
what Im researching about not only ending homelessness, but also providing the homeless with
a permanent housing solution so that they can mentally thrive in the community Ill use this
article for my Ethos.

April 2015. Measurement of Environmental Aspect of 3-D printing process using Soft
Compounding Methods
In the article Measure of Environmental Aspect of 3-D printing process using Soft
Compounding Methods It shows how the 3-D printing processes using Compounding Methods
is constructed and used for improving the environmental performance across the globe, 3-D
printing technology should be increasingly adopted as a manufacturing procedure. Due to the
fact that it that this technology uses the polymer PLA (Polyactic acid) as a material, which is
biodegradable, and saves fuel and reduces waste when fabricating prototypes, the technology can
be located near to industries and fabricates raw material itself, resulting in reduction of transport
costs and carbon emission. In the analysis of the information given in the article one way of
reducing the production cost and improving environmental performance is to formulate models
that can be used to operate 3-D printing technology in an efficient way. The rhetorical evaluation

of this article explains how these methods are applied on the selective laser sintering (a 3-D
printing process) process data. The laser power based open prosperity model formulated can
assist decision makers in operating the SLS process in an effective and efficient Furthermore,
since this information is relevant to my assignment. I will be using this information in the article
for my Ethos.
The Huff Post: A giant 3D Printer Build Ten Houses In One Day Sep 08 2014, Arch Daily,
By Rory Stott
In this YouTube video it shows how a 3D printer can build ten 3D print homes in one day
for $5,000 dollars start to finish. From recycled materials. For this reason I will use this
information in my paper for my logos ethos, and kairos.
O'Toole, Thomas P., et al. "Where Do People Go When They First Become Homeless? A Survey
Of Homeless Adults In The USA." Health & Social Care In The Community 15.5
(2007): 446-453. Academic Search Premier. Web. 22 July 2016.
In the article Where do people go when they first become homeless? A survey of the
homeless adults in the USA. OToole, talks about the longer a person is homeless, the more
likely he or she is to experience poor health and be placed at higher risk for premature death.
Furthermore, this makes interventions necessary in the early stages in ones homelessness an
important prevention strategy. The individuals a chronic medical or mental health condition were
significantly more likely to a healthcare site (46.4%). In the analysis of the article most
respondents sought assistance for concerns directly associated with immediate needs as opposed
to seeking care for mental illness that was actually a causing factor in their actual homelessness.

The rhetorical evaluation of this is that despite their being services out there for people who are
homeless and in need of the services. Better educations about these services should be addressed
to the individual who is heading down that path of becoming homeless. Since, this article has
valid information on the homeless. I will be utilizing its information in my paper as part of my
Ethos and Logos.
