child maltreatment.
How Global Governance Organizations Working on Child Abuse Problems
Global governance organizations refer to agencies, institutions, and organizations that manage global
affairs. These incorporate a wide range of actors including states, regional and international
agencies. Examples of global governance organizations include the World Health Organization
(WHO), the World Bank, the United Nations (UN) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). As
part of their mandate in preventing child abuse, these organizations have undertaken numerous

children maltreatment. However, despite the milestones attained by private corporations and
international organizations in addressing child abuse, children maltreatment and neglect remain a
problem of great concern. In effect, I feel that more can be done by these agencies to address the
problem. As recommended by Davies and Townsend (2008), there is need for joint intervention in

child protection since the problem of child abuse is not fully addressed by the existing government
policies, hence, these interventions can significantly improve and safeguard the welfare of children
and young people.
Conclusion
The government, the private sector and international governance organizations have played
remarkable roles in alleviating child abuse. However, child maltreatment still remains a serious
problem that could have adverse effects on victims. Evidently, the private sector and international
governance agencies seem to be working harder to alleviate the challenge compared to the
government. As a result, there is need for collective effort and coordination between both public and
private sectors to address the problem.
