Title of the project/ Field/Area of project : 1-D invisibility

Objectives of the project/Problem statement:

Creating a sense of invisibility has always been a fantasy for humans but there are various
shortcoming when it undergoes from the process of construction and manufacturing like
Affordability
Field of view for proper illusion
Dimensions of the end product and sensitivity
Type of display and resolution of camera
Sensitivity of the projection

Expected Outcome of the project:

Creating a cheap 1D-invisibility car( or object) by creating optical illusion.

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

We propose a new approach to 1D invisibility by using a ground camera and a display

screen for projecting the image on the top. The cause of invisibility is optical illusion
created by our brain due lack of information of a plane. Here as we can see the robot will
have a low ground clearance and due to that the display screen will remain closer to the
ground and will act like a secondary ground by displaying whats below the camera. Due
the projection of the image or ground below the camera the display will create an illusion
that we can see through the car while the actual case is not so.
8

Methodology :
We take real time video and capture it via a camera
The camera will feed the signal to the display
Because of low ground clearance and perpendicular field of vision we wont be
able to see the car moving from a top view

9
Applications of the project:
Military application for camouflaging the vehicles from being seen from enemy
aircraft
In cars for better parking assist and traffic awareness

Tools/equipments/Software required: 10 colour display screen, robotic car chassis with

low ground clearance, high resolution camera, motors, small wheels
Estimated cost: 2000
