Welcome to your Final Examination Roll the Die

This semester your final examination will be conducted orally. You will be required to
demonstrate and articulate a thorough understanding of an economic concept and
respond to a prompt delivered to you by the leader guy, me Mr. McClenaghan. The
idea is a simple one. You need to prepare for the final by review and study of 6 major
concepts that we have examined over the term. The topics are set out below.
You will need to respond to only one topic. That topic will be determined by your roll of
the die of fate! Your task will be to summarize your understanding and knowledge of
the topic before responding to a prompt delivered by me. Your roll of the die of fate will
correspond to the topics below
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Factors of Production and Entrepreneurship

Supply and Demand
Market Structures
Business Organization
Business Cycles
Monetary Policy

We will spend some time reviewing these topics in the days before your final exam.
Your final will be administered on either Tuesday or Wednesday of finals week in the
LMC. We will gather in the fishbowl classroom at the start of the exam and students will
be summoned to the bench for examination one at a time. Once you have completed
your examination, you will find a place in the LMC to work, study or read quietly for the
remainder of the class period. Any disruptions or talking in the LMC will invalidate your
performance and will result in a failing mark for the final exam.
You will need no materials but for a pencil of pen. Your roll may require you to work on a
graphic depiction or economic model to full y respond to the prompt. You can create a
model, flow chart or other graphic depiction to assist in your response. Remember, this
is an extension of the idea delivered to you in the first day of class. You need to engage
in an articulated response about an economic concept that is valid and insightful. The
communication of your understanding should be enough to impress the boss at the
company BBQ so that he or she feels confident to offer you a raise or a promotion.
Good Luck!
