7th Artist in Residence
Geoffrey Doig-Marx-GDM

Geoffrey Doig-Marx (GDM) left home at

15, then living in runaway shelters and
group homes in the Albany area. He
moved to NYC in the 80s and started
his career in dance, musical theatre
and choreography. In 2011, he started
painting, photographing and writing.
Now with over 500 paintings and thousands of photographs, GDM is everywhere. Presently,
he is the resident
Artist of POSH NYC
(3 years), is illustrating a childrens
book for Emmy
Award Winner Andrea Greene, and
has had several showings of his work in
New York including the Pecora Building
and the historic nightclub Alibi in Harlem. His first New York gallery showing
was at The Lanyon 36 Trade Gallery

Meet the artist at a special reception
(complimentary light hors doeuvres
and cash/sign cocktails) on Friday, September 2 from 6-8 p.m. .
Jeff Strange will also play in the Grille
Room that evening from 8-10 p.m. So
stop down afterward for music and ala
carte dinner (available from 5-9 p.m.).
Reservations are necessary for both

The Club will be closed from July 25thAugust 7th. The annual shutdown gives
most of our staff some much needed
time off, but Dean and Ellen will be
sharing the responsibility of getting
the mail and covering the phone and
Front Desk weekday mornings until
noon during the closure. We currently
have no voicemail so if you need to
reach us in the afternoon or evening

We are happy to announce the addition of the Belvedere Club to our Reciprocal Club list.
Located at 79 Howard Avenue in Staten Island, New
York, this unique dining club is in the historic Casa
Belvedere mansion, a New York City landmark on the
National Register of historic places. Built in 1908 and
poised atop the north shore hillside of Staten Island
on 2.85 sprawling acres, Casa Belvedere is an elegant throwback to the era of the
Great Gatsby boasting striking views of the Verrazano Bridge and New York Harbor.
The views and dcor are matched only by the Belvedere Clubs excellent cuisine and service, says Gina
Biancardi, Founder and President of the Club. I hope
University Club of Albany members will join us for an
unmatched gastronomical experience at the Belvedere where they can escape the ordinary and experience the extraordinary .
They have a main dining room as well as several
smaller dining rooms, al fresco dining on the patio
(where you can enjoy those breathtaking views) and a
private members only lounge and dining room where
you can cozy up to the fireplace, watch a game on the
flat screen or relax with a cocktail after a long day.
Dinner Wednesday-Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and
lunch - Thursday and Friday from noon to 3 p.m.
