CourseDescription:Geometryformalizesandextendsstudentsgeometricexperiencesfromthe
middlegrades.Studentsexploremorecomplexgeometricsituationsanddeepentheirexplanationsof
geometricrelationships,movingtowardsformalmathematicalarguments.Sixcriticalareascomprise
theGeometrycourse:CongruencyandSimilarityMeasurementAnalyticGeometryCirclesandPolyhedra.Closeattentionshouldbepaidtothe
introductorycontentfortheGeometryconceptualcategoryfoundinthehighschoolINCCTheMathematicalPracticeStandardsapplythroughouteach
courseand,togetherwiththecontentstandards,prescribethatstudentsexperiencemathematicsasacoherent,useful,andlogicalsubjectthatmakesuse
