Dr. Alex Mason, Liverpool John Moores University, UK
Dr. Alex Mason graduated from the University of Liverpool, UK,
with a first class honors degree in Computer and Multimedia
Systems, after which he went on to complete a PhD in
Wireless Sensor Networks and their Industrial Applications at
Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), UK. Since
completing the PhD in 2008, he has progressed on a research
focused career path, work as a Research Fellow, Senior
Lecturer and, since 2013, Reader in Smart Technologies. In
that time his research interests have broadened, with a
developing expertise in non-invasive sensing using novel
electromagnetic structures which have been demonstrated in
defence, medical and a variety of industrial applications. More
recently Dr. Mason's research focus has been toward wellbeing in both humans and livestock, and he has a variety of
on-going interests in these areas.
Dr. Mason is also responsible for supervising a number of PhD students in the areas of
sensing and electronics, has co-authored over 140 publications (including 4 patents), has
helped to organise national and international conferences, and has given a number of invited
talks on his work. He is also an active member of the IET in the UK, and has achieved
Chartered Engineer status with them.
