Awazuthoa for women
AwaazUthao campaign was launched in Delhi on 8th March 2011 on the occasion of
International Womens Day, to address the safety concerns of Women and Girls in the city. The
initiative involves formation of women and youth collectives (groups) at the grassroots level, to
address the issues of women safety at public places and support women in distress including
situations of sexual harassment / assault and rape. It is envisaged that these collectives would act
as an effective instrument of change in their respective communities and bring about perceptible
improvement both in societal mindset towards gender issues and the physical environment.
IMTD is also working on the Awaz uthao campaign for the woman.
SELF DEFENSE TRAINING
Molesting, Eve Teasing, Rape, Sexual Abuse, and Harassment are common crimes against
woman. Further, there is no protection and safety for women and girls in the society. Therefore, it
has become very important to give self defense training to women. IMDT has arranged for
special self defense training in collaboration with Delhi Police Nanakpura for the protection of
females. 200 girls / women (2014-15) were provided training for their safety and protection of
their self respect, to build confidence and to handle all sorts of situations and challenges they
faces in their life.
Legal Aid: IMTD have appointed a legal Lawyer and counselor in their area to provide free
services to the beneficiaries. As the women cant afford to pay fees of the lawyers and suffer
from various traumas. To give them peaceful life we have also joint hands with
DLSA. In all 48 awareness sessions are organized in the community by legal lawyer to give
them awareness touching different topics such as child labour, matrimonial Alliance,
domestic Violence, Eve Teasing and harassment, RTI, Rights of women, mediation, etc.
