My mouse is not recognised

Multiple Mice in Windows


How to Install CPNMouse
To install the CPNMouse driver, you must follow the section for the correct operating
system.
If you have any problems, please check this document for help.

Windows 2000
To install the driver:
1. All your input devices must be working under Windows (i.e. the device should not be
disabled and a driver should be installed etc. -- basically you should be able to
controll the mouse cursor by moving all your input devices).
2. You must be Administrator.
3. Select "System" from the control panel.
4. Select the "Hardware" tab.
5. Click "Device Manager".
6. Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices"-tree.
7. Double-click on the desired input device.
8. Select the "Driver" tab.
9. Click "Update Driver".
10. Click "Next".
11. Depending on the type of input-device, select the proper subsection below.
PS/2

Make sure "Display a list of known drivers..." is selected.


Click "Next".
Click "Have Disk".
Select the correct location (This is typically C:\Program Files\CPN Tools\Mouse
driver).
Click "Ok".
Select "CPN Tools mouse filter driver PS/2".
Click "Next".
Click "Yes".
Click "Next".
Click "Yes".
Click "Finish" and you're done.

Make sure "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)" is selected.
Click "Next".
Make sure "Specify a location" is the only option selected.
Enter the correct location for the driver files (This is typically C:\Program Files\CPN
Tools\Mouse driver).
Click "Ok".
If Windows finds a "CPN Tools mouse filter driver" device, simply click "Next", then
"Yes", "Finish", and you're done.
Otherwise, select "Install one of the other drivers".
Click "Next".
Click "Yes"
Select the "CPN Tools mouse filter driver". If this is not available, FIXME: What to do
here.
Click "Next".
Click "Finish", and you're done.

Windows XP
To install the USB driver, simply:
1. All your input devices must be working under Windows (i.e. the device should not be
disabled and a driver should be installed etc. -- basically you should be able to
controll the mouse cursor by moving all your input devices).)
2. You must be Administrator.
3. Select "System" from the control panel. If "System" is not visible, click "Select classic
view" at the left of the window.
4. Select the "Hardware" tab.
5. Click "Device Manager".
6. Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices"-tree.
7. Double-click on the desired input device.
8. Select the "Driver" tab.
9. Click "Update Driver".
10. Make sure "Install from a list or specific location" is checked.
11. Click "Next"
12. Make sure "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" is checked.
13. Click "Next".
14. Click "Have Disk".
15. Select the correct location (This is typically C:\Program Files\CPN Tools\Mouse
driver).
16. Click "Ok".
17. Select the correct "CPN Tools mouse filter driver" (For USB and serial devices the
correct is auto-detected, for PS/2 devices, all of USB, Serial and PS/2 are available;
select PS/2 in this case).
18. Click "Next".
19. Click "Yes".
20. Click "Continue Anyway".
21. Click "Finish".

Windows XP SP2
This is a temporary workaround:
1. All your input devices must be working under Windows (i.e. the device should not be
disabled and a driver should be installed etc. -- basically you should be able to
controll the mouse cursor by moving all your input devices).)
2. You must be Administrator.
3. Copy cpnmouse.inf to c:\windows\inf
4. Copy cpnmouse.sys to c:\windows\system32
5. Select "System" from the control panel. If "System" is not visible, click "Select classic
view" at the left of the window.
6. Select the "Hardware" tab.
7. Click "Device Manager".
8. Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices"-tree.
9. Double-click on the desired input device.
10. Select the "Driver" tab.
11. Click "Update Driver".
12. Select "No, not at this time"
13. Make sure "Install from a list or specific location" is checked.
14. Click "Next"
15. Make sure "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" is checked.
16. Click "Next".
17. "CPN Tools mouse filter driver" should be available. Select it.
18. Click "Next".
19. Click "Yes".
20. Click "Continue Anyway".
21. Windows will ask for a CD. Simply point it to the location of cpnmouse.sys.
