1 About this doc umentation

1.1 Plug-in module a pplications
The plug-in modules documented in this description are intended for use
in the digital drive controllers belonging to the DIAX04 drive family.
Depending on the configuration of the drive controller, various plug-in
modules can be inserted into the slots of the unit.
Which plug-in modules may be combined with which software in the drive
controllers is detailed in the document "Drive configuration".

2 Plug-in module storage and transport conditions

2.1 Plug-in module s torage and transport conditions
Protection against electrostatic
loads

Electrostatic loads endanger electronic components. Objects coming into

contact with these components and printed circuit boards must be
discharged by grounding.
The human body must be discharged by contacting a conductive,
grounded object,
the soldering iron while soldering and
parts and tools must be placed upon a conductive surface.
Note:

Temperature and humidity

Endangered components such as plug-in modules may only

be stored and transported in conductive packaging.

3 Plug-in module design

3.1 Plug-in modules with plastic or metal front panels
and DIAX04 drive families have a metal front panel with two knurled
screws (top and bottom) (see Fig. 3-1).
This means that the plug-in modules used in the DIAX02 drive family (see
Fig. 3-1) cannot be used in the drive controllers belonging to the DIAX04
drive family as the plug-in modules cannot be secured in the drive
controller.

Ground reference of the plug-in module connections 4-1

DIAX04 Plug-in modules

4 Ground referen ce of the plug-in module connections

4.1 Extra-low voltag e circuits DC 5...24 V and galvanically
connected signal inputs and outputs
All connections and clamps conducting voltages of 5 to 50 volts on
INDRAMAT products are protective low voltages (PELV = Protective
Extra Low Voltage).
They are designed as per the following standards to prevent contact:
international: IEC 364-4-411.1.5
European countries in the EU: EN 50178/1994, section 5.2.8.1.
These connections are grounded electrical circuits. The reference
potential of these electrical circuits designed with 0VM, GND or 0VL on
the supply unit is connected to the housing and thus grounded. The
signal connections and clamps of the drive controllers are a part of these
electrical circuits.
Undoing these ground connections -- even for measuring purposes -- is
not possible for reasons of operating safety. If these electrical circuits are
separated from the housing (ground potential), then the proper
functioning of the electronic components can no longer be guaranteed.
Which connections are designed in this fashion is specified in the
terminal diagram of the unit.

4.2 Optocoupler inte rfaces

The protective low voltages (e.g., DC 24 V) used to operate the plug-in
modules must be grounded, i.e., the 0 V potential must be connected to
the central grounding point within the control cabinet. Even if the DC 24 V
electric circuits in the pug-in modules are galvanically isolated, they must
still be grounded (see Fig. 4-1).
Experience has shown that interference can be conducted via the
coupling capacity of the optocoupler in the case where a voltage circuit is
not grounded. This, in turn, can generate error messages in the drive.
Galvanic isolation using an optocoupler prevents, in plug-in modules, d.c.
equalizing currents via the evaluation electronics.

4.3 Notes on earth-fa ult monitoring

Due to the ground connection of the above-referenced electric circuits, it
is basically not possible to monitor for earth-faults in INDRAMAT drive
and control systems. It is necessary to ground the electric circuits,
however, to secure a sufficient degree of operating safety and reliability.
An earth-fault monitor only makes sense for relay circuits for detecting
earth faults which frequently occur there. Electronic equipment does not
usually necessitate earth-fault monitoring. It also does not generally fulfill
its purpose, namely, achieving a higher level of operating safety.

System Limits
In contrast to conventional incremental encoders in which the pulse
output frequency can be infinitely set in very fine increments (i.e., pulse
flanks always allocated to fixed positions), an emulated incremental
encoder signal is subject to some limitations. This is the direct result of
the drive controller and the way the encoder emulation card DAE02.1M
must work in a digital fashion.

Number of Lines
The number of encoder lines usually ranges between 16 and 262144,
taking maximum output frequency into account, and can be freely
selected.

Note:

When emulating the actual positon value 1 gained from a nonabsolute resolver, the number of lines must be divisible by the
number of resolver pole pairs.

Maximum output frequency

The pulse output register on the DAE02.1M has a width of 10 bits per
10
control cycle. At 250s this means it can process a maximum of 2 -1 =
1023 increments. The maximum pulse frequency that can be output thus
equals: 1023/4 = 256 pro 250s = 1.023 MHz.
If this frequency is exceeded, then pulses can go missing. This results in
a position offset of the emulated in contrast to the real position.

Run Time between Real and Emulated Positions

If real position detection takes place at time t n then an internal
computation process is started. At time tn+1 the number of computer
increments is output. The output is completed no later than tn+2.
A runtime compensation is presently not available.
Depending on sampling time of the control, minimum run time thus
equals 250s, maximum equals 500s (mean runtime 375s).

6-4 ANALOG interface with actual position value output DAE02.1M

Note:

DIAX04 Plug-in modules

If the master axis position is emulated, then the missing

runtime compensation of the emulation does not cause a
constant error as master axis position processsing is also
delayed in the drives.

The network must be constructed using the coaxial cables RG-62 or RG71 with an impedance of 93 .
The final ARCNET bus participant must be terminated with a 93 matching resistor.
Each network participant must be integrated into the bus segment by
means of an T-BNC adapter.

Node number (participant

The node number is needed to clearly identify a bus participant. This

number must set within the range of 0 to 255 at the time the network is
started up. Any node number change does not become effective until the
CLC-D has been switched off and then on again once.

connection and termination

The network must be constructed using either coaxial cable RG-62 or

RG-71 with an impedance of 93 .
The final ARCNET bus participant must be terminated with a 93 matching resistor.
Each network participant must be integrated into the bus segment with a
T-BNC adapter.

Node number (participant

number)

The node number is needed to clearly identify a bus participant. This

number must set within the range of 0 to 255 at the time the network is
started up. Any node number change does not become effective until the
CLC-D has been switched off and then on again once.
The node number is set via switches S1 and S2 which are located on the
printed circuit board and are labelled!

10 INTERBUS-S s lave board DBS03.1M

10.1 General
The INTERBUS-S slave board DBS03.1M makes it possible to integrate
the control board CLC-D into the INTERBUS-S system.
The INTERBUS-S interface of the DBS03.1M board is constructed to be
a long-distance bus interface and meet the standards specified for the
INTERBUS - S certification.
The DBS03.1M board is a plug-in board that can be inserted directly onto
the control board. Once screwed into place using the three guide pins, it
becomes one unit with the CLC-D.
Note:

Additional boards can be inserted into the DBS03.1M. This

must be noted when dismantling or mounting!

10.3 Technical data

INTERBUS-S
Incoming interface

INTERBUS-S standard interface per DIN E 19258 for long-distance bus

participants via a 9 pin D-subminiature connector. The interface is
completely galvanically isolated. It contains a duplex interface connection
based on RS 485 to connect with the previous participant in the
INTERBUS-S ring.

Outgong interface

INTERBUS-S standard interface per DIN E 19258 for long-distance bus

participants via a 9 pin D-subminiature bushing. The interface is
completely galvanically isolated as well. It contains a duplex connection
based on RS 485 to connect with the following participant. There is
additionally a strobe signal to detect a relaying INTERBUS-S.

External Inputs
The DBS03.1M makes three hardware inputs (+24V) available. These
can only be used in conjunction with a CLC-D if such is supported by the
relevant firmware. The signal states at these inputs are transmitted to the
CLC-D independent of INTERBUS-S status (On/Off) but can also be
queried by the INTERBUS -S master via the PD or PCP channel.

The DBS03.1M does not have an INTERBUS-S repeater

function that is maintained by an external power source if the
DBS03.1M is decoupled from such. This means that
connector X38 may not be wired.

Note:

Driver UND 2987 A limits short-circuit currents to 350mA.

If the short-circuit limit is active for more than 1s, then the
pertinent output is locked (lL=0). The other outputs are
functional. The affected output remains locked until the power
voltage is switched off and on again once.

Output CLC_ Bb

DIAX04 Plug-in modules

If driver UND 2987 A has witched one or more outputs off due
to overload, then the error state is displayed on the LED.

Output CLC_Bb is set to high by a bit in a parameter with each edge

change. Output CLC_Bb remains at high for 100 ms. If the state of the bit
does not change during this period, then output CLC_Bb goes back to
low.
If within these 100 ms there is a change in the state of the respective bit,
then output CLC_Bb is retriggered and remains in high.
Retrigger time: 100 ms

DEF01.1M & DEF02.1
14.1 General
The plug-in modules "Incremental position interface" support the
acceptance of square-wave signals for the detection of a measuring
system directly and externally mounted to a machine component in the
drive controller.
The incremental positioning interfaces for squarewave signals DEF01.1M
and DEF02.1M differentiate in the way they respond to different address
ranges. These are automatically divided up during the initialization phase
to whatever positioning interfaces have been inserted.
The D-subminiature plug-in connections have been variously labelled to
avoid any confusion during installation.

17 Profibus Interf ace DPF05.1M-FW

17.1 General
The Profibus interface DPF05.1M-FW enables the integration of the CLCD control board into a Profibus system. The design of the board as a
Profibus-DP combi slave assembly means that Profibus networks can be
integrated into either a Profibus-DP, Profibus-FMS or a mixture as per
DIN19245-3.
The DPF05.1M-FW assembly is conceived as a plug-in board for direct
insertion into the control board. Once screwed into place with three guide
pins it becomes a unit with the CLC-D.
Note:

Further boards can be inserted onto the DPF05.1M-FW. This

must be noted for dismantling or removal from the carrier!

A DPF05.1M makes four hardware inputs (+24V) available. These inputs

can only be used in conjunct with the CLC-D, if such is supported by the
firmware. The signal states at these inputs are transmitted independent of
the Profibus status (On/Off) to the CLC-D but can also be queried by the
Profibus master via the DP or FMS channel.

23.1 Encoder branchi ng DGA01.2 for encoders with sinusoidal
voltage signals 1 V
SS

General
The DGA makes it possible to distribute the signals of a measuring
system to up to four measuring system inputs of different drive
controllers. Possible applications of the DGA are:
Parallel connection of linear motors using a measuring system
Diverting position signals to external controls for the purpose of
monitoring or as master axis positions
All measuring systems with sinusoidal output signals and a signal level of
1 VSS can be used (Heidenhain voltage interface).
The DGA makes it possible to connect up to four drive controllers. There
is also an output with square-wave signals.
