WHAT IS ADVERTISEMENT?
An advertisement is a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event
or publicizing a job vacancy

WHY IS RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENT GIVEN IN NEWSPAPER?

An employee is an asset who can change face of a company. The right people are not all at one
place, and hence to get them you will need to give a call. Placing a recruitment ad for this
purpose is a beneficial approach to do.
Its less time consuming rather than placing a call to every single candidate.
The newspaper job advertising is not targeted. Everyone who reads newspapers & fulfill the
criteria can apply for the job vacancy.

TYPES OF RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENTS IN NEWSPAPER

TEXT ADVERTISEMENT:- These are usually types of ads which may have the basic details of the
employer , contact number or the email address apart from the desired candidate and designation.

DISPLAY ADVERTISEMENT:- These are usually ads by Multinational companies , and contains
information about the company along with a picture, company logo, detailed jobs titles with the job
description, company address, email id & contact numbers. These ads are far more attractive than the
text ads and add a big impression to the company.

OVERSEAS RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENT:- This is a specific criteria which requires

recruiters to follow the laid down rules and regulations notified by the government of India .Among the
most important, the recruiter should possess the overseas recruitment license from the Government of
India , and the same has to be displayed in all the advertisements, whenever done. Without complying to
the Emigrations act, section 16, no employer can recruit any citizen of India for employment in any
country or place outside India.

HOW TO WRITE EFFECTIVE NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENTS

AN APPEALING JOB TITLE: - The most obvious way to increase the number of people who view the
job advertisement is to make the job title appealing.

SETTING OUT YOUR STRUCTURE:- There's no set format to how you describe the job role, but
you should look to include these elements:

Short introduction Aim to keep this to around minimum number of words possible and talk
about the job rather than the company. This will help the reader quickly assess if it's an
appropriate role for them, enticing them to keep on reading.

Role responsibilities Job description

Person specification- What skills, qualifications or attributes are you looking for in your ideal
applicant?

Rewards As well as information on the salary candidates can expect to receive you should
also look to point out some of the key benefits and perks they can look forward to.

Location - As well as filling in the Location' field when filling in the job posting form, you may
also want to add more specific information about where the job is based.

Your company What's your business? If your company isn't a well known brand name you'll
need to provide an explanation of what kind of industry you are in

Next steps If the reader is interested in your vacancy what are the next steps you want them
to take?

WHATS NOT TO HAVE IN A JOB ADVERTISEMENT:

over-designed graphics (distracts and slows reading)

extravagantly presented layouts and words (distracts and slows reading)

difficult to read quickly or at all for any reason

font (type-style) too small or too large

strange-looking or fancy fonts
