On-Campus Activities/ Club Involvement

Committee Members
Associated Students of Pasadena City College: 2014-2015 Pasadena, CA
I was a member in several Associated Students committees: the Lobby Committee, the Campus Activities
Committee, and the Inter-Club Council Committee. For the Lobby Committee, we did heavy research and
writing, all of which were to prepare for lobby trips to Sacramento and Washington D.C, where the
committee would talk with political staff members and get them to support bills that would potentially
benefit students of community college. For the Campus Activities Committee, we worked on hosting
several campus-wide events that would engage the students. The events included the Homecoming
Welcome Week. For the Inter-Club Council, I had the opportunity of networking with representatives
from all the clubs active on campus.
Intern
Tournament of Roses: Every New Years, Pasadena, CA
This internship is seasonal. It takes place during the holidays and ends when the holidays end. I have
been working with the Tournament of Roses for every past year I have been a student at Pasadena City
College. The internship allows students to be in on the action and excitement of planning and executing

the famous Rose Parade. Students work on a variety of jobs, including those involving parade
formation, post-parade, and social media. I personally have worked with post-parade and social media.
Committee Member
Alpha Gamma Sigma: January 2016 to Current Pasadena, CA
I am a committee member on the following committees of AGS: By-Law, Fun/Blast-a-Scholar, and
Banquet. I mainly help the board officers with the functionings or the events pertaining to the club.
External Vice President
Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors Society: April 2015 to December 2015 Pasadena, CA
I ran for the position of External Vice President in late spring 2015. I was elected into that position, and I
served until the end of the fall semester of 2015. During my time as the External Vice President, I
collected meaningful volunteer opportunities for the members of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors
Society to be involved in, so that they can gain a sense of serving others and philanthropy. We worked
with Be-the-Match, a bone marrow registry, the Pasadena Union Homeless Shelter, and the Red Cross. I
also assisted the Fundraising Coordinator in locating potential companies that would sponsor the club and
give to its scholarship funding. Another thing that I did was work with the Activities Coordinator in
creating socials, such as the memorable beach bonfire social, for our members, so that they can bond with
one another and feel included.
Staff Writer
Courier Newspaper: August 2014 to May 2015 Pasadena, CA
I was involved with the Courier Newspaper my freshman year at Pasadena City College. This was back
when I was a journalism major. (I changed it to Political Science after my freshman year.) But when I
was working for the Courier, I did a variety of articles, ranging from those covering entertainment,
national news, and opinion. As a staff writer, I did considerable research and writing, as well as
conducting many interviews. My stories were featured in several weekly-released newspaper editions.
Community Involvement
Did a lot of outside community service with Alpha Gamma Sigma. I averaged around 45 hours per
semester. These community services included:
Worked with Be-the-Match, a bone
marrow registry
Worked with the Pasadena Union
Homeless Shelter
Worked with Adelante Young Men's
Conference
Went to several miscellaneous TV tapings to raise
money for the club.
Other outside community involvement include the
following:
I was an intern for the two consecutive years for the Rose Parade.
I did a short-term internship with a local lawyer named Donna Rodriguez. I did this during my
sophmore year at Pasadena City College. As an intern for her, I helped her answer phone calls, review
various briefs, and do research.

I helped a local campaign branch fundraise money, phone bank, and contact potential voters in the area
for the purpose of getting Senator Bernie Sanders the Democratic Nomination. I stopped when he lost to
Hillary Clinton.
