Dear Students,
1. On 1231 Moodle page, there is a link A Summary of 1131 Algebra under the section Algebra Component. I extracted all the definitions and theorems etc. from the
MATH1131 Algebra notes for your reference. You should browse through the document
and make sure you know and remember all the materials in it.
In the folder Chi Maks notes, you can find the following.
2. The file Gaussian Elimination.pdf is the slides for an example on reducing a matrix to
row-echelon form by Gaussian Elimination for revision purpose. Please go through the
example yourself. You need Gaussian Elimination to understand the materials and to
solve problems in Chapter 6, 7, and 8.
3. Lecture notes: the file names will be Chapter # **.pdf. Please download and/or print
a hard copy of the Chapter 6 lecture notes for the use in lectures. The solutions to the
examples in the lecture notes will be worked out in the lectures. Lecture notes for the
other chapters will be uploaded one by one later in this semester.
4. Answers to the examples discussed in lectures during a certain week will be uploaded
to Moodle during the weekend of that week.
