GREEN POWER

Project in the field of Youth

Vienna, Austria
1. November 9. November

!!! IMPORTANT !!!

We would like to point out the fact that
this is an INTERNATIONAL YOUTH
PROJECT, not a holiday, sightseeing trip
or a travel experience.

SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT:

"Green power" is a Youth exchange organized by "PS: EUROPE", focused on the
importance to increase eco-awareness and popularize the usage of renewable
energy sources among population. It deals about the facts that the youth is mostly
not aware of the ecological issues, like the greenhouse gases and their impact on
the environment of their communities. Especially the poorly information about
the impact of pollution on their own communities is another key problem. The
goal of this project is to inform youth and raise their awareness about ecological
issues and how natural resources can be used in a sensible way. A further
objective is to encourage the participating youth to protect natural resources
actively and spread information about conservation in their peer groups.
The activities and methods which will be used during the project are lectures
about the Europe 2020 ecological strategy, presentations, workshops, debates,
games, street actions, making of short promotional video, preparing an online
informative campaign, and others.
The results we want to accomplish with this project are that the participants will
have learned about ecological problems and possible solutions, in concrete the
European Unions strategies. For the long term the participants will have the
knowledge how they are affecting the environment with their behaviour and how
they can actively enhance this behaviour in turning it into a more eco-friendly
one. Exploring different and maybe also unexpectedly similar cultures will be a
positive long-term effect for the participants and might create new friendships all
over Europe. It is also an aim to provide a space for participants to know each
other as partners of future projects.

OBJETIVES:
The project objectives are:
1. To widen the awareness of todays youth for ecology, the problems in that
area, like overconsumption of resources and pollution
2. To introduce the strategies of Europe 2020 of the European Union, which
focuses on the European Unions policies on renewable sources of energy
and the reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions
3. That the participants use their newly received knowledge and skills to
activate more peoples awareness of the seriousness of the situation
4. To enable the participants a space to get to know the profile and the way of
working of each partner for a future collaboration in the Erasmus+
program

5. To create a strong and reliable network of partners interested in organizing

projects within the Erasmus+ program
6. To facilitate the acquisition of communication skills, teamwork and
management of international activities and networking
7. To offer experience individual and collective learning simulating the
creation of a European project within the Erasmus+ program
8. To develop knowledge, skills and attitudes to organize a European project.
9. To help participants to reflect on their learning

Target group:
64 workers in the field of youth, including the home organisation PS: EUROPE,
will participate. Every organisation will be represented by 7 youth workers and 1
group leader. Participants must have knowledge of English; an info pack will be
send to the participants with final information.

ACTVITIES:
Planned activities:
PRESENTATION OF ASSOCIATIONS: here, participants can learn more about the
participating organisations, their objectives; activities, previous experience and
best practices in youth work in Europe. Furthermore presenting the plan each
organisation has with the results of the project and ideas for future projects.
VISITS: Visiting different facilities and parks. Also a sightseeing session is
planned.
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: With the help of presentations, workshops, debates,
games, street actions, making of a short promotional video, preparing an online
informative campaign, team work and others we will relate to the project issues
and develop ideas.
The methodology is based on fundamental principles of non-formal education.
The methods provided and the diversity within the group will allow participants
to engage fully in the learning process, learning from experience and facilitating
interaction and full participation in the group.
The expected results are a variety of projects designed and developed during the
Project and workers in the field of youth trained in project implementation in the
area of ecological subjects.

!WHAT TO BRING!
What you can do to make the project more interesting is to bring some
information about your home country. Every organisation will present its
organisation and country. So we need one presentation about your organisation;
what do you do? What are your main goals? Why is the project Green Power
important for you and your organisation? What are your expectations? What do
you want to accomplish with the project outcomes? What experiences do you
have had with Erasmus+ already?
We need another short presentation about your country and its engagement in
the Europe 2020 climate change and energy sustainability strategies. What
does your country do for its environment? What does your own community do in
regards to sustainability? Please send in the presentations BEFORE 1st of
October. You can find information about the Europe 2020 in your country on
the internet, e.g. http://ec.europa.eu/europe2020/index_en.htm.
We are going to have cultural nights where every organisation is asked
to introduce their country, culture and traditions through presentations, games,
food and/or dance.
We would like to point out, that it is important to have a heterogeneous group;
hence the participants should be if possible 50/50 women and men. As a
reminder: 7 participants and 1 group leader from each organisation are entitled
to participate in the project.

Hosting Organisation:
PS: EUROPE was founded in 2015 in Vienna, Austria. The founding participants
were mainly interested in political and social projects which they saw as a
possibility to widen the youths view on important subjects. PS: EUROPE has a
flourishing branch in Istanbul, Turkey, which is mainly contributed to by
university professors, Master and PhD students. We have participated in various

youth projects, which you can get more information about on or website:
http://ps-europe.org/
One of our main goals is to sustain an academic and social platform for a dialogue
between independent researchers, organisations and society.

Place of the project:

Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria, and one of the nine states of
Austria. Vienna is Austria's primary city, with a population of about 1.8 million
(2.6 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of Austria's
population), and its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 7th-largest
city by population within city limits in the European Union.
Vienna is host to many major international organisations, including the United
Nations and OPEC.
Apart from being regarded as the City of Music because of its musical legacy
(Schubert, Mozart, Haydn), Vienna is also said to be "The City of Dreams" because
it was home to the world's first psycho-analyst Sigmund Freud. The historic
centre of Vienna is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque castles and
gardens, and the late-19th-century Ringstrae lined with grand buildings,
monuments and parks.
Vienna is known for its high quality of life and it has been ranked the 1st in
Mercers annual "Quality of Living" survey of hundreds of cities around the world,
a title the city still holds in 2015. In 2001, the city centre was designated a
UNESCO World Heritage Site.
