GENERAL
ThisSpecificationgivesthegeneralrequirementsforUnfiredPressureVesselsforthe
offshoreprojectsinwesternoffshorefield.
1.2
CONTRACTORSRESPONSIBILITIES
The contractor shall be responsible for the complete design, manufacture, supply,
inspection,testinganddocumentationofthepressurevessels,includingfullcompliance
withallapplicabledesigncodesandstandards,includingthoselistedinsection2.0of
thisspecificationandBasicBidWork&approvedP&ID.
Contractorshallprocurevesselsfromsuggestedvendors.

SCOPEOFSUPPLY
3.1
GENERAL
TheContractorshallberesponsibleforthedesign,engineering,coordinationofsupply
of materials, manufacture, assembly, testing, delivery of the equipment, supply of
drawings and data all sub contractor coordination and guarantees as required, not
withstandinganyomissionsfromthisspecification.
3.2
SCOPEOFSUPPLY
Thescopeofsupplyforeachvesselshallinclude,butnotbelimitedto,thefollowing:
1) Vessel
2) Anypackagingandnozzleprotectionrequiredfortransportationorstorage.
3) Anyspecifiedinsulationorpersonnelprotection.
4) Anycoderecommendedpassivefireprotectionorfixingdevices.
5) Documentationdetailedbythisspecificationandanyreferredattachments.
4.0
ENVIRONMENTALDESIGNCRITERIA
4.1
CLIMATICCONDITIONS
TheclimaticandotherconditionsunderwhichtheEquipmentwilloperatearedetailed
inDesigncriteriageneral(section3.1VolIIofbiddocument).Conditionsspecificto
theEquipmentPackagewillbedetailedinprocessdesigncriteria.

SEISMICANDTRANSPORTATIONLOADS
Allequipmentsupportsandbraces,pipesupportsandothersupportsteelwork,including
temporarybraces,shallbedesignedtowithstandseismicloadsapplicabletothisproject.
RefertotheStructuralbasisforseismicdesignconsiderations.

5.0
GENERALREQUIREMENT
5.1
COMPANYSREQUIREMENTS
The Contractors standard designs (if applicable) which meet the performance
requirements and which will operate in the marine environment for 25 years are
preferred.
Thecontractorshallpreparevesseloutlinedrawings,detaileddatasheetsanddetailed
calculationsforthedesignofthepressurevesselsandsubmittocompanyforapproval.
BasedontheabovetheContractorshallpreparedetailshopdrawingsandsubmitto
Companyforreview.
The contractor shall provide the company with all fabrication drawings, weld
proceduresanddetailedcalculationsforapproval.Shopworkshallnotstartuntilthe
ContractorhasreceiveddrawingsandweldproceduresapprovedbytheCompany.No
subsequentrevisionmaybeissuedtothefabricationshopunlessitisapprovedbythe
Company.Weldproceduresshallbeaccompaniedbyaweldprocedureindexandweld
map.
5.2
EARTHING
Each vessel shall be supplied with a minimum of two earthing bosses as per the
requirementsofProjectSpecificationforElectricalEquipment.
5.3
DIMENSIONS
Allvesselconnections,internals,etc,shallbelocatedfromdatumorreferencesline.SI

unitsshallbeused,withthesoleexceptionofpressure,forwhichkg/cm shallbeused.
5.4
FIREPROOFINGANDINSULATION
Contractorshallprovidethefireproofingorinsulationaspertheprovisionsofapplicable
codes&standards.
5.5
CATHODICPROTECTION
TheContractorshallsupplycathodicprotectionforthevesselwhereveritisappropriate
to meet the vessel design life. Anode material and calculation report should be
submittedtoCompanyforapproval.Thisshallbereadinconjunctionwithelectrical
designcriteria.

Surfacecoatingsshallbeappliedasrequiredtoachievethedesignlifeofeachspecific
vessel.InternalCoatingsandExternalCoatingsshouldalsocomplywiththeProject
Specification2005ProtectiveCoatingsforOffshoreStructuresandFacilities.
5.7
CORROSIONRESISTANTALLOYCLADDINGANDWELDOVERLAY
Corrosionresistantalloycladdingandweldoverlayapplyaspertheprovisionsofcodes
& standards and approved P&ID. Materials shall comply with the requirements of
ASTMA264StainlessChromiumNickelSteelCladPlate,Sheet&Strip.Anyaustenitic
chromiumnickelstainlesssteelcladdingshallbetheextralowcarbon(0.03percent
maximum).
TheContractorcanselectbetweentheusesofexplosivecladplate,rollbondedclad
plate,andweldoverlay,oracombinationoftheseasbestsuitsthespecificapplication.
Thicknessofcladdingshallbeminimumof3mmunlessspecified.Themaximumtotal
claddingthicknessshallnotexceed9mmwithoutspecificwrittenapproval.
Heavilyloadedinternalattachments,suchasgridsupports,etc,shallonlybeattached
directlytothecarbonsteelshell;Claddingshallbelocallyremovedtofacilitatetheir
attachment.Lightlyloadedinternalattachments,suchastraysupports,maybewelded
directlytothecladding.
Allcladvesselsshallhaveweldoverlaidnozzlewettedsurfaces.Sleevesareacceptable
fornozzleswithnominaldiameters100mmorless.Weldoverlaycladdingshallbein
accordancewithCompanysWeldingSpecification.
Wherealackofbondisdetectedbetweencladdingandparentmaterial,thecladding
shall beremoved andthe area shallberepaired.TheCompany shallbenotified in

writingofanyrepairexceeding6000mm inareaorofanyplaterequiringmorethan
threerepairsregardlessofsize.Allrepairs,regardlessofarea,shallberecordedona
scaledsketchandshallbe100percentultrasonicallyexamined.

beassumedasequivalenttooneandonehalftimesthewindloadingoftheinsulated
vessel.
Pressurevesselcomponentstheirsupportsandanchorage,shallbedesignedtowithstand
theresultsofthefollowingcombinationsofloadsandforceswithinthelimitsofstress
setbythecodeandthedeflectionssetbySection6.4ofthisSpecification.

and selfweight of distributors, gratings, etc, and their supports, in the corroded
condition,shallbelimitedto1in500oftheirspan.
Vertical vessels with a ratio of overall height to diameter exceeding 8:1 shall be
designed for dynamic stability under windinduced vibrations. For these vessels,
deflectioninthecorrodedconditionduetothefullwindloadandearthquakeloadsshall
belimitedto1in200ofthevesselheight.Thedynamicamplitudeofvibrationdueto
windloadsshallnotexceed0.2xdiameter.
6.5
VORTEXBREAKERS
Vortexbreakersshallbeprovidedasrequired/indicated.

Shopdetaildrawingsshallbecompletewithalldimensions,thicknessanddetailsof

fullydescribedbynotesorweldsymbols,andannotatedtotherelevantweldprocedure
specification.
Assembly drawings shall contain all pertinent information relating to the standards,
codesandspecificationsusedinthedesign,fabrication,inspectionandtestingofthe
vessel, including the materials used, plus the total weight of the vessel empty in
operation and full of water. Details of the skirts, base rings and chairs for vertical
vesselsorsaddlesforhorizontalvesselsshallbeprovidedcompletewithdimensions,
materialsandthenumber,diameterandlocationofanchorboltholes.Ifthisinformation
isfurnishedbytheCompanyitshallbecheckedbytheContractorandsonotedonthe
appropriatedrawing.
The contractor shall submit after Order, detailed calculations establishing the
complianceoftheirdesignwiththerequirementsofthisspecification,thedatasheets,
the certifying authority and all statutory regulations. As a minimum the following
calculationsshallbeperformedandsubmitted.

Methods of calculations which are not in accordance with the relevant code or
establishedproceduresshallbesubjecttoapprovalbytheCompanyforitsapplicability
tothedesign.
All calculations shall be complete giving all references and showing all working
methods.Thecontractorshallprovideproofofsoftwareverificationforanysoftware
used.Computerprintoutswillnotbeacceptedwithouttheprogramflowchart,input
dataandcompleteprintout,andthenonlybypriorwrittenagreementwiththecompany
atthetenderingstage.
Approval of drawings, calculations and other documents by the Company does not
relievethecontractoroftheirresponsibilityforthecorrectnessofthedesigntosuitthe
statedconditions.

Reinforcement of nozzles and manholes shall be designed to provide 100%
compensationfortheasbuiltthickness oftheshellorheadinaccordancewiththe
specifieddesigncode.
Thereinforcementforopeningsshallbeprovidedbyeitherselfreinforcingnozzlesor
builtupseamlesspipeandWNflangewithpadreinforcementasnecessary.

10.1
GENERAL
AllnondestructiveexaminationshallbecarriedoutinaccordancewithASMESection
Vasaminimum.Allpersonnelinvolvedinnondestructivetestingshallbequalifiedto
anationallyrecognizedstandard.
Inspectionandtestingshallbecarriedoutatthemanufacturersworksandshallbe
witnessedbytheCompanysauthorizedrepresentativesand/orthecertifyingauthorityif
required.
The responsibility for inspection rests with the Contractor. However, the Company
reserves the right to inspect vessels at any time during fabrication to ensure that
materialsandworkmanshipareinaccordancewiththespecification,thevesseldata
sheetsand/ortheapproveddrawings.
The contractor shall provide a projected shop schedule with appropriate fabrication
stagesandtheinspectionactivityschedule.
TheapprovalofanyworkbytheCompanyortheirauthroisedrepresentativeandthe
release of a vessel for shipment shall in no way relieve the contractor of any
responsibilityforcarryingouttheprovisionsofthisspecification.

company in areas that are inaccessible for radiography. Ultrasonic examination and

For vessels requiring ultrasonic examination where heat treatment is required, the
examination must be carried out after heat treatment. The contractor may, at his
discretioncarryoutultrasonicexaminationpriortoheattreatment.

MAGENETICPARTICLEANDDYEPENETRANTINSPECTION
Magneticparticleinspectionshallbeusedonmagneticmaterials.

carriedoutinthepresenceofthecompanysappointedinspectorandarepresentativeof
thecertifyingauthority.
Onlyfreshwatershallbeusedfortesting.Forvesselsmanufacturedfromstainlesssteel,
thechlorideioncontentofthetestwatershallnotexceed50ppm.
Duringtestingthetemperatureofthevesselandthetestwatershallnotbelowerthan
16Cnormorethan25C.
Adequatesupportshallbeprovidedforverticalvesselstestedinthehorizontalposition
toensurethattheyarenotsubjectedtoexcessivelocalloadingsandbendingstresses.
Hydrotestpressureshallbeheldforaminimumof60minutesper25mmwallthickness
upto4hoursirrespectiveofdesigncoderequirements.
Afterthefinalhydrostatictest,vesselsshallbedrainedanddriedcompletely.
10.8
NAMEPLATE
Eachcompletevesselshallbeprovidedwithatype316stainlesssteelnameplatein
accordancewithASMEVIIIsecurelyattachedtothevesselshellandlocatedsothatitis
clearly visible after installation, preferably near a manhole or inspection opening.
Insulated vessels shall have nameplate brackets with enough projection to clear
insulationbyatleast25mm.Thenameplateshallbestampedwiththefollowing:

Paintingprotectivecoatingandtheproceduresusedforthepreparationofsurfaceshall
bespecifiedintheProjectSpecificationforProtectiveCoating(spec.2005)
Wherepaintingisspecified,theentirevesselshallbepainted,includinginsideanyskirt,
outsidebottomhead,theentirebaseringandallskit,outsidebottomhead,theentire
baseringandallskirtattachments.Nozzlesshallbepaintedontheflangeedges,inside
boltholes,anduptothegasketsurface.Fireproofedorinsulatedsurfacesshallbegrit
blastedandgivenonecoatofprimeronly.
