Classroom Procedures
-YOU are responsible for keeping up with your grade. Missing work will be given upon request, but points will be taken off for being late.
-New vocabulary will be introduced every Monday and students will be expected to complete the vocabulary chart every week. THE
CHART IS A GRADE.
-Students will be given a quiz every Friday in order to prepare them for the format of the EOC and assess their knowledge of topics
covered in class.
-Students can do quiz corrections for every quiz. Corrections must be done on the provided sheet and all sections must be completely
filled out to receive credit. Students can earn up to half the points back.
-Cheating in this class is ABOSOLUTELY NOT TOLERATED. Any students caught cheating will receive ZERO credit for the assignment. If
cheating is a reoccurring issue, parents and administration will be notified.
Class Description
This class includes two semesters of US History, covering content from Colonization to Present Day. US History is a REQUIRED credit for
graduation- meaning you MUST PASS BOTH SEMESTERS TO GRADUATE. This class is aligned with the Next Generation Anchor Standards
and ACT Quality Core Standards. Students will need to utilize reading and writing skills and will hone these skills throughout the course.
They will be expected to work in groups, work as individuals, and participate in class discussion. This class is also an End of Course
Exam Class and students will be tested on information covered in this course at the end of the year.
Course Topics
Grading Policy
The grading policy in this class follows the guidelines set out by the
Jefferson County school district and PRP High School. The gradebook
is separated into three main categories- Mastery of Standards
(quizzes, tests, projects, and the EOC), Progress Toward Standards
(readings, writing assignments, district assessments), and
Engagement (notes, group work, class work), The Mastery of
standards section is worth 50% of your grade, Progress Toward
Standards is 30%, and Engagement is 20%. During the second
semester of the course the EOC exam will be worth 20% of YOUR
OVERALL GRADE.
