Algebra II reviews and extends the basic concepts covered in Algebra I and expands the number system to the
complex system.
The rigor of the content and the block schedule requires that we cover multiple lessons and assign practice for each
lesson every time we meet. It is nearly impossible to wait until the night before a test or quiz to complete
assignments or to fully understand the material. For information to be stored in your permanent memory, it must be
practiced repeatedly over time. Daily assignments and CRs (cumulative reviews) may be all the repeated practice you need to
fully understand the material and store it in your permanent memory. Thus, you will be expected to complete daily
assignments, homework assignments and CRs (cumulative reviews) on time. Keeping up on a daily basis is vital to your

success.

If/when you need additional help, you should seek help immediately. I am available before and after school.
(Wednesday afternoons are sometimes reserved for faculty meetings.)

It is suggested that each student use a three-ring binder to organize materials. It is necessary that each student
have a scientific calculator and plenty of pencils. Our math department has solar TI-34 II calculators available for
$17.00. Other supplies include #2 pencils, colored pencils, ruler, regular lined and graph paper. Please have your
scientific calculator along with your other supplies as soon as possible.
ATTENDANCE:
It will be necessary that you attend class on time each day. Be prepared; bring materials, have homework completed, be in
your seat and ready to start with the bell rings. Expect to work from bell to bell.
CELL PHONE usage will not be tolerated in this class. Phones will be turned off, placed in backpacks and stored in the back of
the room. There will be no verbal warning given prior to disciplinary action. (Please see student handbook for more details on
cell phone policies) Students should be seated with materials needed for class and ready to begin when the bell rings.
Students who are not, will be marked tardy and receive appropriate disciplinary action.

GRADING:
All work should appear on homework, tests and quizzes to ensure full credit. NO WORK, NO CREDIT.
Homework: assigned daily, checked/graded regularly
Cumulative Reviews: assigned every week. Total of all counts as quiz in nine weeks grade.
Quizzes: usually mid chapter. Each counts once in nine weeks grade.
Tests: usually end of chapter. Each counts twice in nine weeks grade.
Exams will count 20% of semester grade.
Students and parents will be able to access student grades from home through parent/student portal. After administering a
test or quiz, grades will be posted within about 3 days. If you are absent on the day of a test or quiz, you will be expected to
take the test/quiz on the day you return to school, even if you do not have class that day. If several days are missed before
test/quiz, other arrangements can be made. If you are absent, check the google classroom for assignments, due dates,
upcoming tests, quizzes, etc.
I am looking forward to working with and getting to know each of you. Please let me know how I can help you be successful.
The best way to contact me is email. Please feel free to do so anytime.
