Government (Prime Minister)

Greeting

Good Afternoon, Madam Chairman, the opposition team, ladies and

Motion

gentlemen.
Today the motion of our debate is Hand Phone should be allowed in

Task

schools.
Im as the Prime Minister will explain the motion and will present a
point; next my Deputy Prime Minister will rebut a point and will present
another point. And lastly our Defence Minister will rebut all the points

Definition

given by the opposition team.

Members of the floor, hand phone mean a tool of communication, should
means an obligation, allowed means give the opportunity and lastly

Point 1

school means a place to educate.

My first point is, we should allow the use of hand phone in school
because it is a useful tool in learning.
Hand phone with the aid of internet, contains massive amount of
information that would be helpful for students in learning.
Students could use hand phone as a dictionary. Although there are
dictionaries available in school, it is time consuming to look for a
dictionary and then look for a particular word in it. It is easier to just
download a good dictionary application in your hand phone and look for
meanings in it. Dictionaries such as Oxford dictionary and Merriam
Webster is now available in hand phone and could be used by students.
Furthermore, students could also have access to vast amount of
information with hand phone with the aid of internet which is already
provided in school. Information and new discoveries could be obtained
through educational sites in the internet. Students could learn more

Re-stand

besides what is already provided in the textbooks.

With the reasons been presented, I strongly agree that Hand Phone

Conclusion

should be allowed in schools.

With this, I rest my case. Thank you!
Opposition (Leader of Opposition)

Greeting

Good Afternoon, Madam Chairman, the government team, ladies and

Motion

gentlemen.
Today the motion of our debate is Hand Phone should be allowed in
schools. Hence, as the opposition we will like to alter the motion into

Task

Hand Phone should not be allowed in schools.

Im as the Leader of Opposition will explain the motion and will present
a point; next my Deputy Opposition Leader will rebut a point and will
present another point. And lastly Third Speaker will rebut all the points

Definition

given by the government team.

Members of the floor, I strongly agree with the definition given by the
government team for our motion today. But hereby, I would like to
highlight once again that school is a place to educate, of course to

Rebuttal

educate good moral values ladies and gentlemen.

Before I continue with my point, I will rebut the point given by the
Prime Minister. Prime Minister mentioned that hand phone should be
allowed because it is a useful tool in learning. Although hand phone with
the aid of internet consist of vast amount of information, students
have the tendency to misuse these information.
Students may look for information on things that are not age suitable.
Without parental or teachers supervision, giving students access to
massive information would be a double edge sword. Students incapable
to judge which sites and blogs are appropriate for them so providing

Point 1

these vast information to student might not be the best thing to do.
My first point is, we should not allow the use of hand phone in school
because it is not an appropriate tool to be brought to school.
This is because its become a big problem that sometimes hinders the
learning process takes place. This is because of their dependence on
the entertainment they get from it. They will quickly get bored while
attending the lessons, they will open their mobile phone because they
think its more interesting than the lesson that they did not like.
Hence, they will not concentrate in the teaching and learning process
that are been conducted by the teacher in class. They will make use of
the hand phone to avoid the boredom.

Re-stand

With the reasons been presented, I strongly agree that Hand Phone

Conclusion

should not be allowed in schools.

With this, I rest my case. Thank you!

Government (Deputy Prime Minister)

Greeting

Good Afternoon, Madam Chairman, the opposition team, ladies and

Motion

gentlemen.
Today the motion of our debate is Hand Phone should be allowed in

schools. And I as the Deputy Prime Minister strongly agree with the
Rebuttal

motion today.
Before I continue with my point, I will rebut the point given by the
Leader of Opposition.
The point stated by Leader of Opposition is because it is not an
appropriate tool to be brought to school.
As explained by our Prime Minister school is a place to educate the
children, and if it is so, then why the school itself can be a place to
teach the pupils on how to use the hand phones appropriately? School
held the highest responsibility in teaching the pupils and of course they
can teach the usage of hand phones to the pupils. And through this way
the pupils will learn the appropriate ways to use the hand phones. If

Point 1

the school itself doesnt want to teach, then who will do? Think of it!
My point is, we should allow the use of hand phone in school because it
can serve as a tool for emergency purpose. In support of this, if a
student forgot that he or she had a meeting or an activity practice; the
student can call their parents that they will be late. Consequently, many
irresponsible students forget to bring their assignments they worked
on at home; they can call their parents and ask them to bring the
assignment. Also, there can be other emergencies like breaking a leg
while doing an activity, then the student can call their parents or
guardians immediately. Instead of going to the office, getting the
number of the parents, and wasting time, with a hand phone right
beside each student, no time would be wasted. This will help the
teachers as well as the admin staffs to ease their burden.

Re-stand

With the reasons been presented, I strongly agree that Hand Phone

Conclusion

should be allowed in schools.

With this, I rest my case. Thank you!

Opposition (Deputy Leader of Opposition)

Greeting

Good Afternoon, Madam Chairman, the government team, ladies and

Motion

gentlemen.
Today the motion of our debate is Hand Phone should be allowed in
schools. Hence, as the opposition we will like to alter the motion into

Rebuttal

Hand Phone should not be allowed in schools.

Before I continue with my point, I will rebut the point given by the

Deputy Prime Minister. Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that hand

phone should be allowed due to an emergency purpose.
In school we have teachers, responsible teachers, and every week we
will have teacher in charge that will take care of all the affairs in the
school. And if theres an emergency case the teacher in charge will
know how to handle it according to the rules and regulations of the
school. Hence, we do not have to bring hand phones to school for the
Point 1

purpose of emergency.
My first point is, we should not allow the use of hand phone in school
because it can be used for cheating purpose.
Pupils have been apprehended using the SMS to cheat in the
examinations. Many teachers have caught them red-handed using this
latest hand phone technology to cheat and do well in the exams. Those
who have not been caught continue to engage in this illicit method to
further their academic achievements. Honest and ethical pupils feel
undermined by this and many are prepared to throw in the towel and
cheat as well. They fail to see the point of studying hard and competing
fairly in the exams when others who do not put in any effort at all to
earn high marks. This will eventually cause demoralization among the

Re-stand

pupils.
With the reasons been presented, I strongly agree that Hand Phone

Conclusion

should not be allowed in schools.

With this, I rest my case. Thank you!
Government (Defence Minister)

Greeting

Good Afternoon, Madam Chairman, the opposition team, ladies and

Motion

gentlemen.
Today the motion of our debate is Hand Phone should be allowed in
schools. And I as the Defence Minister strongly agree with the motion

Rebuttal

that been brought by the Government.

I will rebut all the points given by the Opposition Team.
Firstly is the Leader of Opposition. The point stated by him/her is
hand phone is not an appropriate tool to be brought to school. He/She

mentioned that if the pupils brought hand phones to school, it will

distract the attention of the pupils in learning process. Ladies and
gentlemen, in schools we have rules and regulations that are strictly
been followed by the community. So, if hand phones are allowed to
school, of course a stern rules on the usage of hand phones will be
introduced by the admin of the school. Hence, it wont be able to
distract the teaching and learning process in classroom.
Secondly, the Deputy Leader of Opposition stated that hand phones
should not be allowed in school because it can be used for cheating
purpose.
Ladies and gentlemen, during examinations we all know that pupils are
not even allowed to bring the bags or books into the examination hall,
so how come you can expect the teachers will allow them to bring the
hand phones into the examination hall. Right before the pupils are
allowed into the examination hall, of course teachers will check them
from head to toe in order to ensure they do not have any chance to
cheat. Even though this will take some time but with the advantages
that we can earn from using hand phones in education, this is just a
small sacrifice.
Re-stand

With the rebuttals been presented, I strongly agree that Hand Phone
should be allowed in schools. And I hope the judges will reject all the

Conclusion

misleading points been given by the opposition team.

With this, I rest my case. Thank you!

Opposition (Third Speaker)

Im as the third speaker of the opposition team, will rebut all the points
been mentioned by the government team.
First and foremost is the Prime Minister. He/She said that hand
phones should be allowed in schools because it is a useful tool in
learning. Members of the floor, Prime Minister said that by having hand

phones pupils can learn better as they can access to the Online
Dictionary and internet notes to help their learning. Here I would like
to ask you, those days before internet became popular, we used books
and dictionaries to help us with our studies. Didnt we perform? But now
why we are urging on the use of hand phones in helping us to study. I
agree that now we should use technology in education but that doesnt
mean we have to use hand phones. That is not the tool to showcase the
use of technology in education.
Secondly, the Deputy Prime Minister, mentioned that we should allow
the use of hand phone in school because it can serve as a tool for
emergency purpose. He/She said that hand phones can be used for
emergency issues as in if pupils had injury or if they need help from the
parents, they will be able to contact them if they have hand phones.
Ladies and gentlemen, as been explained by the second speaker of our
team, it is crystal clear that in school if theres any emergency matter
pops up, there is a teacher in charge, hence we do not really need hand
phones for that matter. Furthermore, we all know that in school we
have office landline to be used if there are any emergency cases that
need to be informed to the parents. So we couldnt see the advantage
Re-stand

of having hand phone for the purpose of emergency.

By rebutting all the points been stated by the government team just in
a jiffy of time, members of the floor, we, the opposing team had proven
that they have got it all wrong since the beginning. Hence, I strongly
disagree with the motion today and we would like to alter the motion to

Conclusion

Hand Phones should not be allowed in schools.

With this, I rest my case. Thank you!
