Most of the students thought that literature is a BORING subject and
DIFFICULT to understand. However, by learning literature students will be
able to learn a lot of values from poems to short story to novel. Various
themes will be discuss and they can learn how to respect others at the same
time appreciate LITERATURE.
To be honest, we live within LITERATURE. Each and every word you said

There are 3 different types of LITERARY work for form 4 to form 5. As for SPM
candidates, you need to FOCUS on POEMS & NOVEL only. While Short
Stories and Drama, you are only learning it as for escapism and knowledge.

Comparisons made between two unlike things using the


words as, like, or than
e.g. He is as brave as a lion

Metaphor

Comparisons made between two unlike things without


the use of the words as, like, or than

Personification Non-human things that are given human characteristics.

Point of view

Poets voice/opinion from a point where he is the


speaker of the poem (persona)
1st person the speaker is a character in the poem
and tells it from his perspectives (uses I)
2nd person limited perspective where the speaker
is not in the poem but mentions about the other
characters through limited ways
3rd person- omniscient perspective where the
speaker is not in the poem but is all knowing and
able to tell what all the characters is thinking.

Stanza : a unit of lines grouped together, which is similar to a
paragraph in prose

Rhyme scheme: pattern observed through the arrangement of rhymes


in a poem alphabetical letters are used to show the occurrence of the
rhyming patterns.
