1. It suits you. / It fits you.
Context:
I will teach the uses of fit and suit in a lesson plan for an elementary level in a
context of a shopping mall. I would use the text based framework. I would have
the Ss talk to each other about their experiences in a shopping mall, if they like
it, who with they go, where do they go, etc. Then I will use a spoken text of two
friends who went shopping and started talking about some clothes. Next, I
would guide them with some questions about the reading focusing on the
target language: suit and fit.
Checking understanding:
I will check understanding through some CCQs:
Was the white T-shirt the correct size for Daniel? (No, it didnt fit
him.)
Did the blue dress make Anna more attractive? (Yes, it suited her.)
Then, I will show Ss two or three pictures with different clothing and ask them if
they think the clothes would fit them or suit them. (Yes/No questions)
Highlighting form:

The green coat fits Daniel.

I will teach this expression by telling the Ss an anecdote about an accident
occurred in the office of someone dropping coffee on me. Elicit their reactions if
this occur and ask them about other similar situations that can happen by
accident. Then, focus on the language target.
Checking understanding:
The first thing I would do is to draw a timeline and ask them:
When did the action take place: in the present or the past? (In the
past.)
Later, I will check understanding of the phrase through some CCQs:

Did my coworker drop me the coffee intentionally? (No.)


Dropping me the coffee was an accident? (Yes.)
Was she sorry about what happened? (Yes.)

It would be for intermediate Ss. I would use text based, maybe with a listening
of a couple talking about things they didnt do and they regret about them in a
context of household chores. Before the text, I would ask about the household
chores.

Context:
I will set the context with an anecdote about some things that I will have done
the week before that I wouldnt have done because they were not necessary.

Context:
I would teach this in a context of invitations for upper-intermediate Ss. Ill ask
the Ss to think of an important event in which they have to go with another
person. They would be in pairs, trying to invite the other person to this
important event: wedding, prom, party, trip. They would elicit the phrase.
Checking understanding:
I would convey meaning with some CCQs and also focus on the answer given

It would be applied to upper-intermediate Ss in a context of relationship
between parents and children and their typical situations. It would be a text

elicit some of the phrasal verbs that have the same structure (an object).
